Diane Keaton Goes Gray for the Golden Globes (And We Love It)

Watch out, Clooney: You may have some competition for biggest silver fox in Hollywood. Diane Keaton debuted a brand new, silvery hair color at the Golden Globes.

The actress stayed true to her usual award show style in a sleek black pantsuit and tie, but there was one very major change: her sophisticated new hue. She traded in her longtime dark-blonde shade for a very pretty silver color that totally worked with her vibe. She also added layers and some height at the crown that made her new look even chicer.

Amazing Golden Globes hair from every angle!

Other star hair changes of the night: Hayden Panettiere’s sleek haircut, Zosia Mamet‘s blunt bob and Johnny Depp’s messy blonde-ish mane. And in case you missed it, we gave Jared Leto’s man bun a very special tribute.

Do you like Keaton’s hue? Which hair change was your favorite of the night?

I like it better than the blonde. It’s bold, timely and adorable on her.

Rennangel on

Oh and why is this beautiful woman still not married? She said on Ellen that she would love to be married but no one had ever asked her! Guys, wassup with that?

nicole on

love her. she’s one of the great actresses in Hollywood.

tiff on

I think she is gorgeous and loved her new color.. I hope I’m as beautiful as her when I’m her age..

Curious on

Absolutely love her! So classy and she looks great either way!

jules jonas on

her hair looks GORGEOUS!!!

Bravo! on

My husband had been after me for years to go “natural” and stop coloring my hair. After a move across country (where no one knew me) I thought it was a good time to “try” it. I am THRILLED with my silver hair and get many compliments both it and my skin (which I think the hair makes look better).Good for Ms Keaton for showing the world that you can still look great and look more your age (or the time of age you are). I say to others, TRY IT, you may never go back to the expense and hassle of coloring your hair again!

LKT on

Bravo!- I can go all go grey my concern is that I am 46 and afraid it will age me by a lot… thoughts?

Lisa on

LKT-Go for it. The right haircut will have you looking very chic. And if you don’t like it, you can always go back to coloring it.

I wish I had a dime for everytime over the years, Ive been told I look like her! Since the days of Annie Hall up until the present! Guess I need to let my hair go silver, too…. P.S. We even share the same marionette lines…lol

Val on

LKT google “Going gray looking great”. It’s a website that will inspire you to “go for it”. On there you will find pics of a hundred women before and after they took the plunge of every age and not one of them looked better “before”! You will find that it’s not about the color of your hair that ages you. If you still care about the rest of yourself, being stylish, classy, etc. you will find that going silver will not give your age away even at 45. I get more compliments on my hair now than I EVER did when I dyed it. Good luck! It takes about a year to grow out completely and it’s very liberating!!!!

well, I lost a friend because I commented on her hair and told her it made her look older than she was. I mean- she had young kids and it did!! I can’t tell you how many times we were together with her kids and people thought she was the grandmother-and she couldn’t figure out why – so I told her- Diane is clearly of the age where she can pull this off and she looks lovely.

jane on

Saw her in Whole Foods on Friday, it’s a wig.

LOVE it!! LOVE!!

great on

Her hair looks awesome for her age….I don’t get the tie and suit though…..

Two years ago I finally let my hair go silver, and I will never go back! The freedom of not having to visit a colorist or worry about roots showing is thrilling. I love my silver, and I love her silver. Good for her!

Jaci on

Not a fan of the silver color. Doesn’t flatter her like her blonde look does…. She has pretty hair/color so if it ain’t broke don’t fix it!

She is fabulous! She’s a beautiful, confident woman that embraces who she is, including her age. She is a true role model for girls growing up. It’s perfectly ok to not have fish lip injections and to let your hair turn gray – and you can still be attractive! Yes!

anna on

simply gorgeous

Seabot on

It’s absolutely gorgeous. The color, the style, everything.

I started going grey in my teens and unfortunately colored it for years. Around age 35 I finally stopped. Now strangers stop me in stores and on the streets to tell me how much they love it.

kim on

Love it!

hbear on

I was completely stunned when I saw her. She looks absolutely gorgeous and classy. It’s not for everyone but I love to see beautiful, confident women embrace the gray.

Guest on

Beautiful, natural, and secure. I love it!

nolachick on

LOVE IT! She looks BEAUTIFUL!

Sherron on

Go back to blonde, this makes her look too old!!

Joan LaRose on

I let my hair go “silver” at the age of 49. I am now 64 and constantly get comments about my beautiful hair. I’m never going to be 25, will never look 25, so why try? I wear my hair in a simple, chic bob cut which really helps take away from that “aging” idea. So, anyone thinking about it but afraid to try, go for it! If you don’t like it, you can go back to coloring it, but if you never try going natural, you’ll never know your true colors!

Sharon on

Absolutely STUNNING!!!

My hairstylist told me that I need 50% gray to start growing out my gray. Is that right? How can you tell when you just see a little regrowth? My daughter also thinks that at 48 I’m too young to go gray. So I guess I’ll try growing it out in 5 to 10 years. I think Diane Keaton looks fabulous!! Stunning.

MJ on

I like her gray hair, but she needs a new hairstyle.

Karen on

Simply gorgeous!!!! I love, love, love Diane’s hair like this. My hair is going gray, but not all over my head (its more like pieces and my original color is a medium brown and it doesn’t blend well with the grey), so I keep having it lightened with blonde highlights every 6 months to cover it, but if it grew out like hers, I would let it go all gray!! I love her whole look, so classy, cool and elegant!!! She is aging very gracefully.

Zugus on

I LOVED her hair color! I twitted about it yesterday. Someday I’ll wear that color.

fellow cappy on

Absolutely love the “natural” look. I too went silver after colouring for years – I get compliments daily (even from strangers). Diane and I are also Capricorns who btw get better with age!!! Love Diane!!!!

EVERYTHING about Diane Keaton is timeless, classy and beautiful!

Mississippi Librarian on

One of my favorite actresses, I watch Baby Boom over and over again.

Jm on

I think she looks great. She hasn’t altered her face with plastic surgery and is aging gracefully. Other actresses should take note! The comment about not understanding her wardrobe choice. I think she was referencing her Annie Hall character which had a major influence on fashion notably the menswear look.

macy on

She looked good, but she’s still a FLAKE. I tuned in just as she took the stage, tuned out after the first verse of her song. Yeesh!

Diana S Fetterman on

I didn’t like her hair at all. It aged her. On top of that they showed her commercial where her hair was a honey blonde and she looked much younger. This was too much hair for her face and too grey, it almost looked dyed.

blair on

A gray haired woman with a tie is just not attractive!

fan of boardwalk empire on

Dianne Keaton looked great last night.
Love the hair color!

Heidi Quayle on

Love the hair for sure. And, I love that she has dictated her own fashion choices. Her speech was very sweet, especially the song. Vulnerable, goofy… she’s awesome.

TTD on

LOVE IT!!!!

Sandy on

Stunning, sexy, confident, radiant — so inspiring when a woman owns her maturity. I hope she never wears another silly hat!

Kim Vancouver Island on

Love it, and her haircut is amazing as well.

Lauren on

The new glasses make her look so much more modern, too. Love them!

sas on

yuck!

Lulu on

She’s absolutely fabulous! Full-on class, style, grace, beauty and a great sense of humour!

Kim on

Finally, a woman who isn’t afraid to actually look her age! I can’t stand women “of a certain age” who continue to color their hair ridiculous shades that you KNOW aren’t natural.

Truthfinder on

This is a woman who has aged so gracefully and is NOT afraid to embrace it! Everyone else in Hollywood looks so fake … big KUDOS to Diane…and btw, a very talented actress. One of my all time favorites.

Brandy on

Classy no matter what!!

bonchan on

I love, love, love this look! Classy and sophisticated. There is nothing worse than an older woman wearing a prom dress with bleach blonde or jet black hair to the awards shows, you know the ones…It is refreshing to see someone in Hollywood who dares to look and act their age. I love her and I can only hope that I am as dynamite when I get to be her age! Bravo Ms. Keaton, you look amazing!!

JoJoButtMonkey on

With that lame outfit all Diane was missing was her clown makeup and red nose!

Sue on

Gorgeous, gorgeous..

ERNichols on

She looks wonderful. Excellent actress! Glad she went natural. I did years ago and never regretted it. Beautiful!

Mie Mie on

I would have sworn that she was wearing a wig. And not a really good one, at that.

Lex on

She looked great BUT it was definitely a wig. Also, for those saying she hasn’t had PS, she most definitely has but she hasn’t overdone it.

Charli on

Everyone can’t do gray well but I like hers. It helps that her layers look great.

rc on

Classy????? You have to be kidding! Cannot give an acceptance speech without using profane language! Sad that so many think that this kind of behavior is classy.

jlw on

Looks good on her!

Pam on

I like it a lot.

jules on

Diane…LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. You are beautiful and such a class act.

LA on

Could Diane Keaton possibly make herself any uglier,,?\
I think not… She is trying so hard to be annie hall.. and she is waaay to old for that script. UGH~~~

LA on

good lord~~ it looks like all of her upper back teeth are gone.~!

Laney on

I think she looks beautiful.

yourbusiness22014 on

While going grey can look fantastic on some people. it does not work great for everybody, but she looks good.

Betty on

Please tell me her face is unaltered. I think she looks beautiful with her lines and her silver hair. Everytime I admire someone who I think is aging naturally, I get shot down and I find out they had a “little work” done. She has always stuck me as someone who marches to her own drum fashionwise. Bravo to her.

Marie on

Great actress, horrible style, hate the hair!

Charli on

I LOVE her!! She is absolutely beautiful!!

Diane Keatons' a Graybe! on

The gray is sexy on Diane Keaton. A lot of other Hollywood women would do well by going au naturale. Silver is sexy!

Valerie on

The suit looked HOT on her….. Wish her was -dark-blond though. She looked and wore that suit better than any guy in there did.

Ann on

Great actress, gray hair makes her look old. Makes her face dull. She needs to go back to blonde, this color gives her a spark. Gray shows her wrinkles in her face.

Maggie on

Wow I thought her hair looked amazing. I have always loved her and I just love her in all her movies. Im such a fan. Im off to the hairdressers to go natural, which is grey. Thanks Diane.
