Nina Dobrev's People's Choice Awards Hair Was Amazingly Intricate; See It From All Angles

We fell in love with her “stego pony” last year, and now we can’t get enough of Nina Dobrev’s latest edgy hairstyle: the “knothawk.” Dobrev debuted the intricate updo on the People’s Choice Awards red carpet, and immediately editors were emailing about who would try it out first. While we doubt it’s something we can do ourselves, it’s totally worth saving in your iPhone pics for the next time you’re at the salon.

Celebrity hairstylist Riawna Capri is the mastermind behind Dobrev’s unique updo. The magic ingredient: KMS California Hairplay sea salt spray, which added the needed texture to the actress’s hair. After spraying the star’s hair, Capri created a mohawk style by pinning knots from the back of her head all the way to the top. And since the actress has long, thick hair, the finished product ended up being an intricate maze of 100 (yes, 100!) knots. As you can see in the gif, it’s truly a masterpiece from every side.

The pulled-back style was the perfect complement to the star’s sparkling Jenny Packham turtleneck dress. And her bold red carpet look wasn’t Dobrev’s only statement-making moment of the night. She also took the stage with ex Ian Somerhalder to accept the award for “Best Chemistry” for their on-screen relationship on the Vampire Diaries, and totally poked fun at her off-screen breakup with the actor. Suddenly we understand why she had the hotness turned up to 11.

What did you think of the star’s hairstyle? Will you be trying the knothawk? Share your thoughts below!

First of all, that gif is making me dizzy! Second, I think it looks okay (not great, but okay) from the side and back but I don’t like the front – I would really prefer it if it wasn’t so high from the front.

Hard to tell with the gif flashing so quickly. Maybe you should post separate pics.

Stop with the flashing photos! Gees, do I need to take seizure meds before I checkout people.com now?

Apparently People.com just discovered gifs today. *hint: it doesn’t need to be used for everything!

I’ve been to Nine Zero One, the salon that Riawna Capri and her partner own. I followed my stylist Denise there from the Ken Paves Salon. I wish I could still go there it’s just not in the budget anymore! Whaaaaa 😩😩😩
Denise was such a doll I loved her and she always made me look great. Riawna and her partner always looked like they loved doing what they do and wow they where good at it! Love the hair in the article above and congratulations on the success! Well deserved! 👍👍👍

I wanted to read this, but like other commenters, I couldn’t get past the impending headache/seizure from the gif.

This is NEWS???!!!!!

PLEASE, show the different angles of the hair, but in still
photos, not the flashing. It’s too fast, and gives me a headache.
I think your feedback would improve also if you didn’t have the
gif flashing.
