Many People’s Choice Awards attendees knew they were winners before they stepped off the red carpet Wednesday night, but there was one major surprise: Naya Rivera’s brand new, bold do. The Glee star showed up with much lighter locks styled into a full-bodied blowout, which had us asking “Is that J.Lo?” until Rivera turned around for the big reveal.
For many brides-to-be, hair is a sacred thing that cannot be touched until the day after the veil comes off. Not Naya. In fact, this is one of the biggest hair 180°s we’ve seen from a recently-engaged star.
The star has been known for her super-thick, super-shiny dark brown locks since the Glee premiere, when it was most often tied up into a Cheerios-approved ponytail. But as the star has gotten more comfortable with her red carpet style, she’s gone shorter, played with highlights and now she’s opted for an allover lighter look.
Rivera’s new color is a warm caramel shade with dark chocolate lowlights underneath and a few lighter pieces around her face. And while we’re excited to see her switch things up (especially for a big red carpet debut), we’d like to express one minor disappointment: That she didn’t wear her insane Christmas gift on the red carpet.
What do you think of Rivera’s new lighter hair color?
