So Hugh Jackman Has a Mullet: How Does it Stack Up in Man Hair History?

No, this is not an early Throwback Thursday Instagram photo of Hugh Jackman rocking a mullet way back in 1985. This is actually the actor’s new haircut for 2014. But don’t worry, the actor isn’t having a midlife crisis. There’s a reason behind his new do.
Yep, you guessed it — it’s for a movie role. “Day 1 on Chappie! Vincent is born, rocking the mullet. Working with Neill Blomkamp in SA. This film is rad,” he captioned the shot of his hairstyle, which is super-cropped and styled in the front, curly and wispy in the back (just add a little gel and he’s got a ducktail).
Jackman is no stranger to changing up his hair for roles, most famously growing out a full beard and long hair for Wolverine. But his latest mullet look is definitely the most out-of-the-box do he’s sported in a while. And we want to know how it compares to other bold male grooming looks from movies. Remember Channing Tatum’s blonde hair and goatee on the set of his new film Jupiter Ascending? And of course Bradley Cooper’s perm for his Golden Globe-nominated performance in American Hustle, which we think deserves an honorary Best Beauty Move by a Boy Oscar. Are you listening, Academy?
Jackman is just the first big guy hair change of 2014, and while we can’t say we love the look, we’re excited to see where it goes. Perhaps Brad Pitt will shave half his head? Or Michael B. Jordan will grow a mohawk? What do you think of his latest do? Does he pull off the mullet? Share your thoughts below!
