Our New Year's Resolution, To Look Like One of These Bikini-Clad Stars

12/30/2013 at 12:28 PM ET

Jennifer Aniston, Olivia Palermo, Rihanna in bikinisFameFlynet; Ramey; Splash News Online

While we’re busy trying to look cute in the cold weather, some of our favorite celebs are spending their holiday vacations in bikinis. And since it’s never to early to start shopping for a good bathing suit, we rounded up a few of our favorite styles. (And yes, this post also serves up some serious fitness inspiration.)

Jennifer Aniston continued her post-holiday vacay tradition in Los Cabos, Mexico, working on her tan alongside fiancé Justin Theroux and a few very famous friends, including Courteney Cox (who also looks amazing in a bikini, in case you were wondering). Aniston kept up with her simple swimwear style, teaming her itty bitty black bikini with a pale blue sarong.

Over on the celeb-loved island of St. Barts, Olivia Palermo proves her beach style is just as noteworthy as her street style in a striped bandeau top and matching bottoms. And Rihanna gets the award for most head-turning bikinis, selecting a sequin-embellished bronze string suit as she continued her bikini parade in Barbados over the weekend.

Gabrielle Union also headed to the islands to celebrate her engagement, pairing her crazy rock with a bright orange bikini and cowboy hat. “Urban cowgirl strikes again… #islandliving #wholetallthedamnfliesin,” she captioned the below photo.

Excuse me. Can we not just be happy with out bodies when they are healthy. Excuse you for perpetuating a negative body image for women and men of all body types. I clicked on this link just to leave this comment—not to be directed on what the supposed ideal body is—and then told that I should feel jealous. You took it to far People. how inappropriate. I for one, am happy with my body – though because I am close to the ideal I guess that makes it easier—but what about those who don’t fit in it—or those that do but have a complex that’s always fed by mass media and now the general population. No. I do not want to look like one of these stars. Who I do want to look like, is me.

Krista on

They all look fine . . . but skinny doesn’t equal a great body. Rihanna has some curves going on but Jennifer Aniston and Natalie Portman are just skinny. Perhaps fit – but skinny!

Christine on

I want a personal chef and a trainer to come to me home! These women have earned a much easier path than most women and yes I am jealous. They work their butts off to look as good as they do! I would love to have their abs..

Karen on

Yeah, Im not jealous over a straight board, personally. I like a girl with womanly curves, not fat curves, but shape!

tea7 on

Their skinny, but also flat chested..not jealous

My2Cents on

What does People have against hips and boobs? All these girls are just thin…but enviable? Not convinced by these pics :-/

TiffTiff on

No….nope…not jealous of Olivia Palermo’s figure…no.

dan on

None of them tripped my trigger.

MEM on

None of them have a chest….. They are thin and look fit I think, but there’s nothing wrong w/ womanly curves : ) Beyonce, Sofia V. And Allison Sweeny are all curvy but healthy! I’d rather aspire to look like that <3

Olivia Palermo needs to be off this list. While the other celebs look fit, Olivia just looks emaciated. Nothing cute about that. Out of all the photos, I think Gabrielle Union looks the best. She looks like she works out and takes care of herself, but she still has some nice, healthy curves. Like many black women (including myself), she’s curvier in the hips/thighs and booty, and a bit smaller in the chest. But it’s all good. I think she looks great!

Niki on

No they did not make me jealous at all.

junebug on

I think they all look great. I know it takes a lot of time and effort to look like they do so I applaud them. @ Ashley you knew what this article was going to be about it….why open it then? You sound like a very miserable and Jealous person.

junebug on

Every one of you that has commented sound extremely jealous! Why do negative?? They look amazing…admit it…

epmmrp on

Who cares?

Canadian Girl on

What on earth is so enviable about these bodies?
Does society (PEOPLE) have something against curves?
Jen Aniston does look good, but Olivia Palermo?!? SERIOUSLY!?!?!?!
There’s nothing to even hold her bathing suit on to her gaunt frame!
Rihanna looks okay, it would just be nice to see her take better care of this body that People magazine deems as enviable.
I’m not a celebrity, and I guess I will definitely NEVER be what you consider as attractive (5’3, 130lbs, 34DD) – and I AM ABSOLUTELY FINE WITH THAT!!!

Lili on

Nope, not jealous. Love my body the way it is, wouldn’t want any of these.

Mya on

They all look amazing. I am comfortable saying that because I have never been jealous of another woman in my life. What is the point?? Good for them! I would high five all of them if I could. There were very few positive comments on this article…..personal trainers, chefs, cosmetic surgery, bad body image, etc. Why can’t it just be the result of hard work and exercise? There are women like that, me included. Step your game up if it applies to you and do what you have to do.

Callie on

Just like those of you with curves, that’s just the way they are. After years of hating my 32A breasts (and then hating them even more after having 2 kids) and thinking of getting implants, it was actually nice to see someone call a small chest “enviable.” I wish I was curvier, but that just isn’t in the cards for me. Just b/c she’s flat chested doesn’t make her “emaciated.”

stefa8 on

Olivia Palermo is NOT a star. I could do without seeing her picture anywhere…

Abby on

Whoever said that is Natalie Portman needs to read the article and look again.

sally on

Love it! Glad you didn’t include Nori’s motha, because that was the fugliest thing ever!

nancy on

I’m 53 and look better than Olivia I HAVE NO BOOBS Palermo. LOL. And I’ve had 2 kids!

abby on

Can HONESTLY say im not even a tiny bit jealous of any of these women and the only one i personally thinks looks good (and like an actual woman) is Jen A, the middle photo (think they sai dOlivia something) YUK! since when did bones and A cup breasts become something to envy? I’d choose my DD and curves in a bikini any day and I know my husband would agree! what happened to T&A? all this dieting while growing up has stopped natural growth of these things im sure as you go into a store now and size small and A cup bras are the main sizes, how? is evolution getting rid of our breasts? i don’t think so! eat girls! its sexy to have a body!

abi on

Jen is soft and mushy ,NO jealousy with her The others are rockin

abi on

JEN IS SOFT AND MUSHY NO JEALOUSY HERE THE OTHER 2 ROCK

abi on

JEN IS SOFT AND MUSHY NO JEALOUSY HERE SARONG IS TO HIDE NOT FLATTER

jessica renee on

wow… these actually made me feel BETTER about myself- thanks!

Moira on

@ Callie: Have you ever seen Olivia Palermo on camera or in other pictures? The girl is scary-skinny! People aren’t calling her “emaciated” because she’s flat-chested, it’s because her whole body is clearly underweight. I remember watching her on “The City,” and I couldn’t help but think that the reason she was always so b!tchy on the show was because she was constantly starving.

SAM HAIN on

I’ll just spank it to them instead.

Caitlin on

With all of the posts People.com does about women and body image, including young stars who end up suffering from eating disorders due to the pressures of hollywood, the basis for this article is really contradictory. People love to see where their favorite stars are hanging out and vacationing and wearing, but to put focus on the fact that women should be “jealous” of their bikini bodies is wrong. And feeding the monster.

C’mon, PEOPLE!

Dawn on

Nope, no jealous. Good for them.

ashley on

@junebug. thanks for your comment? I explained why I opened the article—-just to comment and express my frustration at the complexes articles like these have on women, men, and children for that matter–and over the fact that of all there is to care about in the world that matters, we’re conditioned to focus on the insignificant. I can’t really prove to you that I’m neither jealous or miserable, and it’s sad that this is the strongest thought that comes to your mind about me just from my critique. I never said they did not look good. I don’t even want to comment on how perfect or imperfect their bodies are—that really wasn’t the point. I’m sorry it wasn’t articulated in a way that expressed that.

Nik on

Don’t get me wrong here- I think they all look great, but none of them have had children… Put regular moms on there to inspire others!
