Salma Hayek Gets Auburn Highlights

Katie Holmes’s six-inch cut wasn’t the only surprising hair news to happen this weekend. Salma Hayek — who’s been a dark brunette for most of her career — went for a bold color change as well.

The actress stepped out with reddish-blonde highlights at the Rêve d’Enfants AROP charity event in Paris, a noted departure from her rich brown shade. But her go-to center-parted curly style stayed exactly the same. And while we don’t know if it’s for a role or for fun, we’re into it — the sun-kissed color complements her complexion. (Salma, if you’re reading, we’d also like to know what your curly-hair secret is for keeping your waves so smooth and shiny.)

While editors are always loving her hair, Hayek also hit a style high note a few weeks ago nabbing the top spot from PEOPLE readers on our Best Dressed List.

“I’m not really a fashionista,” she told InStyle earlier this yer. “I have an eye. I can pull it together, but a lot of the effort I make is for my husband, because I want him to be attracted to me.”

What do you think of Hayek’s highlights? Do you like her new look? Share your thoughts below.

She looks nice either way.

I would not call this blonde, but then again People looking for any kind of story.

I love it! She is beautiful, and I think this look is very complimentary.

That’s blonde? Jeez…I’ve been putting highlights in my hair for years for no reason. Lol!

love the color i always thought it was still brunette coloring her hair is so dark it will take a while to be blond that brown is normal for a darkhaired person

I think it ages an older woman when they put lighter highlights in their hair if they aren’t already naturally blond. I have an aunt who does that and the lighter hair makes her look washed out and haggard :( Likewise when she puts a darker complimentary shade on it makes her look younger. I wish she’d stick to that type of change instead.

Don’t like it – it looks mousy and she looks older. If her husband isn’t attracted to her normal self, he has issues!

That’s not blonde, People! And thank goodness because she would look crazy with super blonde hair. Women with such beautiful richer skin tones, like hers, look gorgeous with dark or lighter hair like in those photos. The lighter color looks like she’s been in the sun on vacation.

I love it!. I think it goes very well with her skin color. BTW.. reading the headline made me think she went full on blonde lol. I was like “Nooo” UNTIL i saw the photo and was like “this is not blonde, this is just streaked people” lol.

Dark haired people usually have problems with graying hair and streaks help to disguise this.
