‘Tis the season! Nothing says the holidays in Hollywood like a good soirée, which is why many of our current style crushes (from Zoë Saldana to Rashida Jones to Kate Mara) turned out to Parker’s Beverly Hills bash. And of course, they were decked out in their festive finest to check out the goods from lines like Everlane, James Jeans and Mara Hoffman. Although the stars were shopping for themselves, they still had holiday presents on the brain, and shared a few of their go-to hostess gifts with PEOPLE.

“I feel like you can’t go wrong giving someone a really nice candle,” says Mandy Moore, right. And she keeps it classic: “I’m a Diptyque girl!” Actress Sarah Chalke may win for most creative. “For holiday time specifically, it’s called a lottery tree,” she explains. “I go to a garden center and get a small Christmas tree and paperclip scratch and win lottery tickets all over it. It’s a family tradition. You have people winning lots of money … $2, $5,” she says with a laugh.

And Hart of Dixie‘s Jaime King, who brought along 9-week-old son James Knight, was majorly in new-mom mode — so much so that she was stumped on a hostess gift, but offered up her favorite baby shower present for her mom-to-be pals. “It’s from Honest, Jessica Alba’s company.” And why not, when Alba is your kids godmother? “I send them the diaper bundle and the essentials bundle for like three months.” Maybe a little strange to show up with that at a Christmas party this year, but hey, we’ve seen stranger.
