From Date Night to Brunch, Exactly What to Wear This Weekend
We let you off the hook last week, but this week we’re hoping to entice you to up your outfit game for all your parties, morning-after brunches and everything in between. And while your Monday work outfit is just as festive as the other two, it’s a little more relaxed, giving you a chance to recover from all your cute outfits and cookie indulgences.
Saturday night: Great news, Brittany: Jessica Alba shows the perfect way to wear your new cute gold skirt. Her fitted leather moto gives the girlie, swingy skirt a little punch, and everything else in her outfit perfectly spans the bridge between cute and practical, from the cozy tights to the comfy boots to the cross-body bag.
This French Connection moto jacket approximates the look of Alba’s for a fraction of what we’re sure hers cost, and this gold Sam & Lavi skirt happens to be the exact one she’s wearing — and it’s on sale for $60.
Sunday brunch: We often send you to your a.m. meal in super-lazy looks that are perfect for those mornings when you need to drag yourself out of bed. But since this is your annual gift exchange or book club boozy brunch, we’re demanding a little more from you this weekend. Jessica’s quilted Holmes & Yang bomber jacket is a stylish addition to a striped Parker top and black James jeans, and her classic accessories (including an Everlane bag) pull it all together. You have our permission to repurpose the leather topper and boots from the night before, but if you’re looking for something new, by all means, don’t let us stop you from shopping.
Monday morning: We’re not going to even attempt Connie Britton’s hair on Monday morning (yeah, we’re going with a ponytail, sorry) but the rest of her look is super-doable. Red velvet pants will never work better than they will at this time of year, and her silky top is both festive and forgiving. Add some chic pointed heels (hers are Jimmy Choo) and a blazer (depending on your place of work) and you’ve got yourself a Monday morning outfit.
Get yourself a pair of red velvet pants for under $50 from the Limited (as we said, they’ve got a limited shelf life, so no need to splurge) then add a silky top and some chic heels (we like these) and spend all day warily eyeing the baked goods your coworkers brought in.
