Ashley Benson Slams Pretty Little Liars Poster For Being Too Photoshopped

Many girls look to the Pretty Little Liars cast for hair, style and beauty inspiration and eagerly await the posters that mark the show’s new seasons — which tend to be both glamorous and dramatic.

But there is one girl who isn’t such a big fan of what appears to be the poster for the second half of season 4 — despite the fact that she’s on it. Ashley Benson (second from left) took to Twitter and Instagram to express her disappointment with what she felt was an overly photoshopped rendition of herself and her friends.

“Saw this floating around….hope it’s not the poster,” she wrote on Instagram. Our faces in this were from 4 years ago…..and we all look ridiculous. Way too much photo shop. We all have flaws. No one looks like this. It’s not attractive.”

ABC Family had no comment, but Benson’s fans overwhelmingly supported her sentiment. The actress retweeted a few of the responses, many of which were like the below:

Benson herself followed up on Instagram to thank fans for their support, writing the below:

Do you agree with Benson’s feelings about Photoshop, or do you think it’s much ado about nothing? Tell us below.

I applaud Miss Benson. That’s Real Talk

I applaude her chutzpa…it’s a very candid thing to say. I wold hope that others feel the same. There is far too much pressure on today’s young girls to look “perfect” It is about time that some one who the girls look up to said, “hey!, this is not what we look like…we all have flaws” Good on you Ms. Benson, for not supporting the unrealistic and misogynistic view that media has about the way women should look.

Way to go, Ashley Benson! I’m an avid PLL fan and all the girls are super-gorgeous. No need for photoshop! Makes me so happy when celebs speak out about image! Very mature and responsible move :)

You go girl!

Looking forward to PPL next month.

I’d expect nothing less from a Days alum! You’re a class act, Ashley!

I agree. Too much airbrushing, and it barely loose like troian has an arm… it looks like the arm of a child… something about it just makes me cringe. But overall, it’s just a horrible poster. Why are they all so squished together?

The top Troian is wearing is what her character wore in an episode in season 1, but in a different color.

Eh. I like the poster, though I do wish their full faces were shown. I really don’t see a difference between this one and past promo posters for PLL and even other shows. Perhaps that’s part of the problem..

Obviously a need for attention, because her cred has been slightly on the down-low. I mean, anyone who makes videos just to tell her fans she is sick, borders on attention seeking. She’s a wannabee. It’s quite embarrassing to come off THAT desperate. Not caring about herself or anything creates a sense of coolness and maturity. And, shouldn’t she know that her tv show uses MANY doll based theories. Airbrushing them to look like this, is making a statement that they’re dolls. Why can’t she see that?

I have so much respect for her! Photoshop gives young girls unrealistic aspirations. The fact that she stood up against her own show’s advertising in order to make an honest point shows so much courage!

Ashley is a pretty girl and I am happy to see that she is satisfied enough with her natural looks that she has the sense to disapprove of photoshop that completely distorts the looks of the subject. I am shocked every time I see those photoshopped pictures in magazines, movie posters, etc and the celebrities do not admit that the pictures look nothing like them. What kind of fantasy world do these people live in?

Sarah on

She’s right! That looks awful. Unless they were going for a wax doll effect!

Damn @Nancy, you sound bitter
