Emmy Rossum May Be the Master of the Makeup Bag - See Why!

Emmy Rossum is one of those stars who perpetually looks put together, whether on the street or on the red carpet — and that extends to her always on-point makeup as well. Since we’re unlikely to get an invite to her clothing swap anytime soon, we got the next best thing: a look inside the makeup bag she brings on the road that keeps her looking picture-perfect all the time.
She spilled out her striped Beautycounter zipper pouch to dish on the contents — from her longtime favorite Diorshow mascara (“I started using it eight years ago and still love it”) to the Restorsea eye cream she uses to perk up her skin after travel (“Especially in winter, it doubles as a lip moisturizer, cuticle cream and even works on elbows that might get dry,” she says).
Perhaps the most genius on-the-go tip we picked up from Rossum’s makeup bag: Keep your lip colors inside a daily pill case to avoid packing in a ton of lipstick tubes. And Rossum doesn’t mind destroying a tube or two in the name of efficiency, she says: “I never spend money on lipsticks, as I love drugstore lipcolors. Any brand, Revlon, L’Oréal — if I like a color, I’ll buy it.”
This may be thanks to her mother’s best beauty advice, which Rossum still swears by: “My mom believed in a moisturized face, no foundation and a red lip,” she says, adding that she’d add a cat eye and topknot to that list for a perfect holiday look. “It says ‘confidence.'”
We totally agree with that assessment, so we dug down deeper into Rossum’s beauty stash to see what else she carries on the road. As a big fan of full brows (“they’re ‘in’ all the time!” she says) she carries Anastasia Beverly Hills eyebrow color in “Medium Ash,” plus MAC eyeshadow in “Grain” and her go-to mascara to make her eyes pop. Chantecaille foundation and two kinds of blush (Josie Maran in “Sunkissed” and Tarte in “Blissful”) give her glowing skin. In addition to her travel lipcolor case, she’s got Aerin lipstick “#15.” Her Restorsea eye cream, Jessica Nails “Phenomen-oil” and Vaniglia Del Madagascar perfume are good for on-the-go pick-me-ups, and her beauty tools are by Smashbox and Shu Uemura.
