Want your guy to smell like Derek Jeter? (We’ve met — and smelled — the baseball player and trust us, you do.) Then stuff the Yankee hunk’s new Avon cologne in his stocking this Christmas.

The New York Yankee shortstop unveiled his third fragrance, Rush (which follows the launch of Derek Jeter Driven and Driven Black) in N.Y.C. Thursday, and he really thinks it’s … a home run.

“It’s really been a true partnership. Avon let me be a part of the creative process — designing the bottle, coming up with the scent,” Jeter shared of the cologne which features notes of Italian mandarin, cool blue mint and sandalwood. “This has been a learning process for me as well. It’s probably one of the last things I thought I’d be doing … mixing the potions and coming up with a scent. The whole brand is a reflection of who I am.”

As for where the name “Rush” comes from, Jeter explains it’s all about the game. “Drive. Determination. They’re some of the characteristics I live my life by, my career by,” he said. “Rush captures the exhilaration and energy I get right before I play.”

And while the athlete’s love for the game inspired his latest scent, he maintains that he doesn’t spritz himself before hitting the field. “Some of my teammates spray cologne on before they go out and play. I have not understood that,” he said.

So will the Yankee locker room smell like Rush next season? “In a big group, [my teammates] don’t really ask me about it. They teased me about it originally, but then when we are one-on-one, they ask me for some,” he said. “Women tell me they like it for their boyfriends and husbands. Guys don’t say it in big groups. They tell me on the sly. I think guys get embarrassed to talk about it. I don’t think it’s a topic of conversation among most guys.”

Shop Derek Jeter’s Rush, $28, now avilable at Avon.com. And tell us: What do you think of his no-cologne-on-the-field policy?
