The most exciting part of the Thor: The Dark World promotional tour: Natalie Portman‘s hair changes! (What, you thought we’d say Chris Hemsworth in a suit? Okay, fine, maybe it’s a tie.) But it looks like she wasn’t as into her new do as PEOPLE readers were; after a two-week stint with ombré highlights, Portman has returned to her brunette roots.

The actress debuted a rich allover hue at the The Cinema Society and Dior Beauty screening of her new film in N.Y.C. Wednesday. She maintained the pin-straight, center-parted style she loves, but clearly had a change of heart about her sun-kissed ends. We’re guessing her hair has Thor-like strength, because after all those dye jobs, the star’s hair still looks really healthy. And most of you dig her blunt, shoulder-length crop.

New hair wasn’t the only surprising move Portman pulled at the screening. Though she was (of course) in Christian Dior Couture, she did ditch the demure dresses and ball gowns she favors, instead selecting a multi-colored strapless top and formal cropped trousers (we told you they were having a moment!).

We’re you loving the ombré or do you like Portman better as a brunette? Sound off below!
