Jennifer Lawrence Makes Menswear Look Good In Dior

10/23/2013 at 06:09 PM ET

It’s funny, we were just thinking to ourselves, “Selves, we are overdue for a Jennifer Lawrence fashion moment.” The star has been laying low for the past few months, and we can’t blame her — with Catching Fire and American Hustle coming out soon, she’s going to be hitting the red carpet hard this holiday season. But just because we understand why she’s been MIA doesn’t mean we can’t miss her presence in pretty dresses.

Fortunately, Dior read our minds, releasing several totally glamorous shots of the star all dressed up in menswear-inspired pieces for their in-house magazine. (She is the brand’s face, after all.) Shot by Mikael Jansson, the images (many of which you can see on Dior’s Tumblr) portray Lawrence reclining, deep in thought and giving her best Katharine Hepburn in a variety of suiting.

PHOTOS: Vote on star style in Last Night’s Look!

Also noteworthy: The star’s barely-there makeup and tousled pompadour, which add to the ’40s noir, androgynous vibe of the shoot. When we go easy on the cosmetics and throw up our hair, we look like we just got out of a sickbed. Lawrence, on the other hand, looks like this.

Check out the rest of the photos on Dior’s Tumblr, then tell us what you think of her chic shoot in the comments.

Timeless! She is gorgeous.

I love this style of clothing but WHY do they need to make it look adrogenous? Feminine glamour with male inspiration is sexy. Let’s celebrate feminity and keep the lines drawn!

kw on

Yuck. Hope we don’t see her look like that again.

tommymommy on

My Goodness, the woman is absolutely stunning!

Angela on

I don’t think Jennifer Lawrence can get any prettier!!!! I just love her!!!

Sweetness on

She looks absolutely stunning.

Cosia on

I love her! she can look so gorgeous in a photo, but you know 2 seconds later she cut up laughing and ate a burger

guest on

The top pic is hot!! She has such an interesting kind of beauty. It’s less “obvious” than most but she is beautiful nonetheless, and I love her down to earth personality. Pretty rare in Hollywood nowadays.

chloe on

anything a female does is, therefore, feminine. So anything, including androgyny, can be feminine. enough with the lines.

Bardot4ever on

No offense to you People Magazine but Marion Cotillard has been THE face of Dior since 2008 and she truly is fashion royalty for the brand. Check out her new Dior Campaign pics and you will get it. Don’t get me wrong I love Jen Lawrence but don’t mislead your readers with accolades and superlatives that really are not portraying the truth in the REAL fashion world

The ad seems like its trying to hard to be unique…..

But my girl crush is always beautiful!

Shie look very nice

You only have to be white and average in America and people start to label you gorgeous and stunning. I hope the next time she shows up with a greasy face and uncombed, slimy hair, someone nudges her.

ImALadyToo on

Not liking the androgynous look.

I know everyone loves Jennifer Lawrence, but that doesn’t mean you have to worship and praise everything she does. She really doesn’t look good in these pics…. her face in the first one looks like she’s trying too hard to be pouty and brooding, and it just doesn’t work.

Terrapin on

So French. Elegant. Timeless. Classy. Things that few American women know how to exhibit.

Elana on

This is a girl with breasts, hips and curves. Why would they want to make her look androgynous when a majority of models have the body type for that. I like Jennifer a lot, but do not like this look on her.

Truthfinder on

Chloe obviously doesn’t know the definition of androgyny…
Characteristics of male and female…ambiguity.

Sim on

I do not like, still has the same face, not suitable for this brand

ES on

Not a huge fan of these photos; fun in a fashion editorial sense, but certainly not “pretty”

I love love love Jennifer Lawrence but these pics are awful. This doesn’t capture what Dior is. I love the idea of minimalist makeup and androgynous concept but she doesn’t pull it off. She looks boring. Should have kept Marion Cotillard. She was perfect!

Clara on

I thought it was a picture of Emily Blunt for a moment…

kaliluna on

Very reminiscint of Katharine Hepburn! She looks beautiful!

WoW on

I love her, and the pictues are nice but she looks dirty

Can’t believe everyone says she is gorgeous with every photo she appears airbrushed in. The photo itself is perfection, the person, is not. I’ve seen Jennifer lawrence in the flesh, and while she is beautiful, she certainly does not depict this perfect girl you see in this and every other airbrushed photo. I wish they wouldn’t do this, and the reason is not because i’m jealous as i know most of you will say in reply, but that young impressionable girls are going to think that this is what it takes to become highly successful, and to be a star! What if a young teen desires to be an actress, but she sees these FAKE photos, then looks at herself in the mirror and thinks, there is noway i’ll ever be even considered… I have no hope whatsoever.’ And then they come here and read the comments all these OP say which i’m sure does very little to help the situation. I just think we’re sending the wrong message across to the next generation, that’s all. If you saw the Jennifer Lawrence out and about, in dirty clothes, her hair all greasy, chilling out on a saucy hamburger, the last thing you’d be saying is, ‘glamourous.’ And i don’t speak just for her, but for every touched up celebrity, be it singer, model, actress, etc!

You don’t have to publish this. Just wanted to point out that it’s “lying low,” not “laying low.” Thanks.

Jen on

She’s beautiful, but I’m not a fan of this look or these pics. The first picture looks like it could be Lindsay Lohan.

J on

Beautiful but totally photoshopped. She’s not nearly that thin.

lonemirage14 on

laying low? She’s filming Mockingjay. More like she’s really busy.

lonemirage14 on

laying low? She’s filming Mockingjay, which is scheduled to shoot at least through next spring. more like she’s really busy.

Jill on

She is gorgeous…but she looks kind of sweaty in these pics.

janet on

to Bardot4ever , I checked pics of Marion Cotillard per your comments, and I disagree. Jennifers pics are so much more nicer. Cotillard looks plain. In one picture she looked like her two front teeth are either missing or terribly stained.

boesluv on

I thought Hunger Games was average at best. JUST BECAUSE YOU TRY TO FORCE THIS RAT DOWN OUR THROATS DOESN’T MAKE IT TASTY.

Jen on

Is she smoking in the top picture? Looks like a Zippo lighter on the table. How glamorous ;(

Fashionista on

The make-up makes her look so oily. She is far prettier than they have made her look in these images. The clothes are just ok.

Charlie on

I like the clothes. Hate her hairstyle, she looks awesome.

Dezz on

Beautiful

maria on

Normally, she is beautiful, but these pictures are not flattering..they do not do her justice.

BB on

Jennifer Lawrence is a beautiful woman, wonderful actress and trendsetter on her own. Please do not compare her to Katherine Hepburn, she has a long way to go to be comparable to Ms. Hepburn. When her time comes, she will no doubt have paved the way for future actresses, just as Ms. Hepburn and others of her generation have for actresses of today.
