What We're Buying: Amazing Boots, the Perfect Leggings, Great Bracelets - and More!
Perhaps the only thing we love more than shopping is sharing our new finds with you. This week, actress Tia Mowry-Hardrict shares the blinged-out boots spicing up her closet, plus our editors show off the wear-everywhere items they can’t stop talking about right this minute.
Whitney Little, Associate Producer: Despite the fact that I’m inching closer and closer to my thirties, I constantly find myself in the Forever 21 jewelry section, purchasing accessories for $2 that last me approximately three wears before turning my skin a very disturbing shade of blue. This typically isn’t a problem, as I rarely get attached to jewelry enough to keep pieces in constant rotation, but when I do fall in love with an accessory I fall hard.
They’re perfect for stacking with other bangles, but I usually let them shine on their own, and the compliments haven’t stopped coming. Although they’re more than I usually spend on bracelets, the price point ($66 for gold, $78 for silver) certainly reflects the quality of the pieces. Plus, considering the fact that I wear them every single day, I’m sure the cost-per-wear will end up totaling, like, a cent.

Tia Mowry-Hardrict, actress, author and entrepreneur: I fell in love with these Sam Edelman “Melina” ankle boots from Macy’s. [Ed note: You can nab your own pair for $249.95 here!] I’m obsessed with shoes and obsessed with all things that sparkle, so when something has both elements in one? It’s a must have.
Katie Kauss, Associate Photo Editor: Announcement: I have found the world’s best leggings, and they’re only $35. I’ve already made this announcement to the photo room and the entire style team, and now I’m sharing it with you because they’re just. That. Good.
They’re from Zara and come in three colors. I love them because they’re super-stretchy, but not flaky thin. I think the seam down the front and back legs make them look sophisticated — they’ll look like great riding pants in boots, or I can dress it up with a heel.
They’re like pregnancy pants for not pregnant people, and in my mind, you can’t beat that. I’m going to get them in all the colors!
Alex Apatoff, Style News Editor: I just moved to San Francisco, and I’m slowly (very slowly) coming to grips with the fact that the fact that my heels are worthless here — and that the temperature varies enough that I’m going to need boots to make it through the winter. And the summer.
So last week’s Shopbop 25% off sale was all the incentive I needed to finally splurge on a pair of Frye Engineer 8Rs (now sold out on Shopbop). I have long loved how cute they look on stars like Amanda Seyfried and at under $200 with the discount, it seemed like an easy way to acclimate into my new, more hipster-friendly neighborhood.
My one hesitation is that I don’t know if I can pull them off. So for the moment they’re sitting in the box while I stare them down, trying to imagine outfits that won’t make me look like a try-hard. Any suggestions?
