Daniel Radcliffe Puts On a Hoodie and (Surprisingly) Gets Serious

When you think of Daniel Radcliffe, you might picture him in his wizard robes, or in a sharply tailored suit for his red carpet appearances. Which is why you may not recognize him in his New York Times Magazine cover, below — or looking chic and slightly rumpled in the spread inside.

The profile trails Radcliffe through a wild few days at the Venice Film Festival, where he was promoting his new indie film Kill Your Darlings. And it tracks him as he greets fans, dodges chaos and keeps his hair in check. “I’m sorry I’m acting like I care about my hair,” he tells the reporter, “but [my hairdresser] gave me strict instructions not to make him look like an ass.”

We learn what it’s like to deal with hundreds of adoring fans constantly (nerve-wracking) as well as what happens when he gets tired or stressed (one eye blinks more slowly than the other: “It’s what Homer Simpson’s eyes do when he’s drunk,” he says).

The New York Times Magazine also reveals a few things you didn’t even know you wanted to know, like what he mostly eats these days and whether he keeps up with Harry Potter costars Emma Watson and Rupert Grint.

For lots more from the star — including how (and why) he has had to come to terms with his face (“‘It’s just my face. I have to accept the fact that my face is going to remind people of Harry because I played that character.”) check out the New York Times Magazine Saturday or online here.

Screw the hairdresser. Someone get him a stylist and dress him properly. He looks like he got dressed in the dark.

If that’s a new look for him and a “statement-maker” it’s a definite loser. Why in the world align yourself with a dark moment in our recent history? Hoodie??? I think not.

A “dark moment in our recent history?”

Are you kidding me????? Oh my goodness. Don’t ever put white sheets on your bed…it is a dark moment in our history. Don’t wear black boots. It is a dark moment in our history.
Clothes don’t make the man.
