Most stars are masters in the art of the quick change (as in, they change their outfits in between every red carpet appearances, no matter how many there might be). But Katie Holmes’s event-hopping MO this weekend was NNON — No New Outfit Needed — and we think the actress deserves some style kudos.

For her masterclass in day-to-night dressing, Holmes chose a fall-ready look that is super-easy to copy: a striped EACH X OTHER biker jacket (which is already sold out at 70% off its original price), classic skinnies and black pumps. The ensemble served her well while the sun was still out at the Global Citizen Festival in N.Y.C. and after dark for the TAO Downtown Grand Opening, also in the Big Apple.

The actress/designer is always our go-to for all-American classic style inspiration, and her fresh beauty look at both events seems to reflect that same ethos. She recently collaborated with Bobbi Brown cosmetics on a compact and a brush set, called The Bobbi & Katie Collection — and we have reason to believe she had her signature day-to-night versatility in mind when she designed it.

“Our objective was to do something that is very helpful to all women,” Holmes said of the fall collection, available now. “You can put it on in the back of a cab, you can put it on in your bathroom at home, you can put it on in the parking lot at your child’s soccer game. It’s simple, but we like to have special things that make us feel good, and I think that’s what this palette achieves.”

Do you like Katie’s look? Does it work for both events, or would you have changed something from day to night?
