Yes, it would be nice to wear $7 million diamonds like Sofia Vergara just did at the Emmy Awards, or have a bag custom made to match your red carpet couture gown. But you can actually make some of the best accessories we spotted at the Emmys at home, using these tips from Erica Domesek, of P.S. – I Made This … and author of the new book P.S. – You’re Invited…. Here, she explains how to recreate Morena Baccari‘s embellished belt, Christina Hendricks‘s lace cap sleeve and Kerry Washington‘s clutch — all without a ginormous celebrity bank account. ps

Morena Baccarin’s Embellished Belt
If you’ve ever watched an episode of Say Yes to the Dress, you know that a sparkly ribbon belt can totally transform a gown. (It definitely made Baccarin’s strapless gown shine.) Bust this out for your next girl’s night out to make your ensemble extra special.

What you need (click to buy the items):
Double-faced satin ribbon
Rhinestone trim
Glue gun
What to do:
Cut a piece of satin ribbon long enough to wrap and tie around your waist.
Cut rhinestone trim to desired size.
Glue onto ribbon with hot glue and let dry.

Christina Hendricks’s Lace Cap Sleeve
The lace detailing was the most elegant part of Hendricks’s black Christian Siriano gown. Spruce up an old LBD in your closet with the delicate fabric!

Lace fabric
Needle
Thread
What to do:
Make a pattern for your cap sleeve and cut out two lace pieces.
Pin the lace onto the front side of the dress strap.
Continue to pin around the backside and repeat for opposite shoulder.
Stitch the lace on your dress strap with double-threaded needle.

Kerry Washington’s Clutch
Lucite acrylic clutches are a huge trend on the red carpet right now, and we loved Washington’s neutral version, which she paired with her cream-and-white Marchesa gown. The clutch would look good with just about any formal dress in your closet.

Plain wooden box
Mother of pearl paper
Mod podge
Foam brush
Gold glitter tape
What to do:
Cut mother of pearl paper to size of clutch (for all sides).
Mod podge with a foam brush each panel so all surfaces are covered. Let dry completely.
Cut gold glitter tape to stretch across a surface of the clutch and press to adhere. Repeat for backside.
