Kate Bosworth Gets Two Wedding Rings (Can You Hear Us Sighing From Our Desks?)

If her magical Oscar de la Renta gown wasn’t proof enough that Kate Bosworth was the luckiest bride on the planet, enter her two — count ‘em, two(!) — wedding rings.

The actress’s new husband Michael Polish presented her with dos bands, both of which complement her vintage 1920s engagement ring, at their Montana nuptials on Sunday.

And we got all the scoop on her new bling straight from the source — Ocappi, the jewelry retailer responsible for crafting the handmade, platinum-set rings just for Kate’s big day.

“Collaborating with Kate was so wonderful, because she has such a great style sense, that it made the creative process so vivid,” says Ocappi Creative Director Haki Abehsera. “She expressed how much she loved her engagement ring and how she wanted something to accompany it without taking too much attention away from it.”

Abehsera explains that the first band, which is just over a half-carat and features 18 brilliant horizontally-set baguette diamonds, was designed to go seamlessly with Bosworth’s art deco engagement ring.

And the second band, which boasts over a carat, has more of a personal meaning for the couple. “Michael mentioned that maybe we should do something with 12 stones representing each month of the year,” Abehsera adds. “That’s where we decided not to be subtle, and how ring number two was created.”

We have a feeling that this two-ring-thing may be the start of a new trend in Hollywood. Note to our boyfriends: We’d totally be on board with that.

Now tell us: What do you think of Bosworth’s double-band action?

It’s not a particularly new idea. I got married 6.5 years ago, and had two wedding bands from the very beginning. My husband and I like the symmetry of having a band on each side of the engagement ring.

“has more a personal meaning…”

i think you’re missing a word, there.

you guys either need to hire a full-time copy editor or start employing decent journalists.

Two rings and two dresses … to each his own. I don’t dislike the idea, I just question one’s overindulgence. Not that it’s my place to question. She can have/do whatever she wants. I’d like to get a better look at the rings on her finger to see the whole picture. I bet it’s a gorgeous set.

the one on the right is perfection :)

Anon on

Agreed. Nothing novel here. I have two bands, and did from the beginning.

I got married in 2010 and I have two wedding bands and I know several other women with two as well. I just liked the way it looked with the two bands surrounding the engagement ring. I get compliments on my rings all the time!

Crystle on

Never heard of the Bride having two wedding rings plus two dresses . I’ve been to a lot of Weddings where the Bride wore one wedding dress and wedding ring

I got married five years ago and got two bands. I have a more antique style engagement ring, and it looked strange and assymetrical with just one band. I think her’s is strange though, because the two bands aren’t the same. I guess I like balance and symmetry :)

I had 2 dresses and 2 bands….who cares

From the day my husband proposed to me, I knew I wanted two bands, however, I didn’t want the second band until my 10th anniversary. 16 years later, I have two bands. Nothing new here People Magazine.

I think it’s called “stacked” rings. Not exactly new or innovative….but pretty nonetheless.

Wow…….12 stones for 12 months. Whoopee…… To each their own but I had to laugh at the ‘we decided NOT to be subtle’ when both rings are the definition of subtlety!!!!

It’s nothing NEW!! I have been married almost 30 years and have a cluster diamond ring with matching bands on either side. When I got married had the !st band then for our 5th anniversary got the other band. Yah 2 bands worn isn’t something NEW to the planet!!!

I have 2 chins…and a fat neck. so there

I don’t think the bands are pretty at all. But having 2 must be nice :)

kim on

what is so surprising about this? when i got married, i had two as well, one to flank each side of my engagement ring, then all 3 were sautered together. its a very pretty and not a new concept..

LisaC on

Ha. It’s a “story” because obviously Ocappi paid for them– or maybe just one.

I had 2 baguette bands on both sides of my wedding ring back in 1963. Nothing new there!

I got married this past July and have two wedding bands, one on each side of my engagement ring and it looks stunning. A lot of people like the idea of having the balanced look. I don’t think my ring would look as good with only one band. Plus some days I like to wear the two bands without the engagement ring for something different.

another source said the larger band was the groom’s

Lucky her 😉😉😉

I, too, got married over 10 years ago and have two bands. I also couldn’t decide which ring to get my husband, so I purchased both that he liked and gave him one as an engagement ring. He loved it and was the envy of his friends.

I have 2 wedding bands…one from each husband…LOL I only wear the one from the current husband…LOL

This should not be allowed! Disgusted with this idea

Seriously on

Seriously how is this news? It’s always nice to celebrate a joyus event like someones wedding but have we become that shallow that we report on the number of wedding rings someone has like it is an amazing thing. I agree with other readers, this is not a new idea! People have been doing it for centuries, everyone has their reasons. I have three wedding bands not for any other reason than that it had a greater meaning for my husband and I and I like the look of a stack. I think the editor missed the personal part of this…

A happy marriage requires neither rings, nor dresses which most of these Hollywooders don’t understand. For them marriage is just another act in their show.

Ali on

@Kim – Sorry, the only reason I have to do this is that I’m OCD… It’s “soldered” together! I’m sure your rings are very nice… :-)

fanofboardwalkempire on

love the two wedding bands! very cool looking rings.
So happy for this couple!

Katrina on

i dont see this as a new thing, i know plenty of people who have done it.. I am getting married in December and have a ruby engagement ring at the moment, but it will be joined by two ruby and diamond bands for the wedding bands. I have always loved the look, so i dont see it as a new thing.

I have two wedding bands also, but they don’t match. My first one is a 14K yellow gold with emeralds embedded in the band. My second one is a 14K yellow gold band ring with leaves (like the one in the movie The Vow). The reason I have two is because my husband and I got married on the day of our 10 year dating anniversary, so he wanted to give me a ring to commemorate ten years together, as well as a ring for our wedding day.

Alisa on

I agree with Rachel, I’ve also sported two wedding bands since my wedding in ’07. They’re not as fancy, but I love the symmetry.

ann kramer on

ring guards have been around since before I got married in 1968. Maybe even longer than that

Ann on

Had two wedding bands and a engagement ring 45 years ago. Nothing new, depends on the engagement ring, that sets the style of 2 bands. As far as two wedding dress, waste of money If one wants something different for reception, have the dress made with a modification that can be changed for the reception. One dress two different ways it can be worn. Saves a lot of money these days.

Truthfinder on

I have 2 wedding bands and 1 engagement ring also. Back in 1997 I guess it was kind of unique. I just liked the idea of one plain and one with diamonds. It was my hubby that gave me the most joy and still does!

MKD on

How does “…something with 12 stones representing each month of the year” have “personal meaning” for the couple? There are 12 months in the year for EVERYBODY not just this couple. Unless they think the sun revolves around them alone???
