Forget the '90s Comeback: Elizabeth Banks Is All About the '80s

Elizabeth Banks is no stranger to crazy costumes (see: Trinket, Effie in The Hunger Games). But her latest getup for a role is beyond crazy. In fact, it may be downright tubular.

The star’s latest getup is for her role in Love and Mercy, in which she plays Melinda Ledbetter, the wife of Beach Boy Brian Wilson. So naturally she’s sporting a look that was the height of fashion in 1984: a super-shiny satin brocade dress in electric teal, a chunky gold collar and some raspberry-tipped talons. Slightly off-color pantyhose completed the look perfectly.

Our only complaint? The hair and makeup isn’t nearly outrageous enough to go with the killer ensemble. In a perfect world, she’d have matching blue shadow to her eyebrows and a majorly teased perm.

Tell us: What do you think about Banks’s ’80s getup? Are you feeling inspired for your work outfit Monday morning?

Jesus, just because it is quote unquote “80s” doesn’t mean people wore it all at once.
