In our weekly round-up of the looks that are gaining fashion ground (and the ones losing their style street cred), we noticed several stars stepping out in mirror-like heels and wearing all-blue designs, and we spotted one pair of shorts that should’ve been left on the hanger.

Up: Metallic heels. After four stars (Naya Rivera, above, Rosario Dawson, Kelly Rowland and Aubrey Plaza) swapped summery sandals for fierce reflective heels on the red carpet this week, we knew a major trend was in the making. Can’t decide between silver and gold? Follow our Style Director’s favorite advice and buy both hues.

Up: Shades of blue. Back in June so many stars were wearing black and white that we were wondering if “summer brights” were no longer a thing. Fast-forward to July and we’re seeing vibrant colors, particularly blue, everywhere. Mel B. just wore cobalt head-to-toe and Rachel Bilson (above) chose a pretty blue Oscar de la Renta dress for the To Do List premiere.

Down: Long leather shorts. Just typing those three words feels wrong. Yes, hot weather leather is still a huge trend, but Piper Perabo’s skintight bike shorts are not to be emulated. To find out how we’d fix this look, click over to Style Rx.

As a 51 year old fat white guy, even I know long leather shorts are atrocious.

I wouldn’t wear any of those outfits; particularly not the blue one. However, I don’t have to dress to impress, so although I might choose blue, but it will be something comfortable – not something outlandish.
