Avril Lavigne's Black Wedding Gown: See the Full-Length Photo

Avril Lavigne Black Wedding Dress Mark Liddell

Avril Lavigne promised a unique gown for her nuptials to Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger, and she certainly didn’t disappoint.

But rather than the ripped up and dyed dress she was envisioning, the star, 28, wore a black Monique Lhuillier creation accented with matching jet roses, a black lace-edged veil attached to a jeweled headband and, of course, her massive engagement ring.

Kroeger matched his bride in an all-black ensemble at their intimate July 1 wedding, which he accessorized with a goatee and beaded bracelet.

This is the first time we’ve gotten a full-length glimpse at the gown, and we were struck by the similarities to her Vera Wang gown from her 2006 wedding to Deryck Whibley. Both featured a sweetheart neckline, perfectly matched roses and subtle lace details.

But the black gown definitely feels true to Lavigne’s punk-princess vibe, and we love the coordination with the groom. Tell us: What do you think of her dramatic dress?

With all the black-on-black, it’s hard to see any details. Hard to make out how pretty the flowers are or where they even end and the dress begins. To each his own, though. I’m not a fan of hers but best wishes.

Is this a wedding or a funeral?

Do we missed her Halloween wedding? Because it looked like a Halloween wedding.

She looks beautiful in the dress but should lay off the heavy eye liner. It doesn’t suit her fair features.

Can;t stand Avril. She’s a song stealing fraud. I thought Chad was okay but I question what he’s really like if he married such an airhead. I don’t care what people wear for their wedding and don’t think someone must be in white but something about all that black material for a bride weighs her down. Hate the flowers. She looks ridiculously pale also, which may work for another event but not so much for a bride that should be glowing on her wedding day. Just my opinion.

Absolutely love it, but Shenae Grimes had the PERFECT black wedding dress.

They both look ridiculous, time to grow up, they are a little old for that goth look

the black gown seems to fit the goth vibe really well. it is a very pretty gown. I still like the traditional white gown!

black, white, yellow pink to some people the color of the dress is just that THE COLOR OF THE DRESS to others the color of the dress is a automatic symbol of the choice this couple is making and the statement they are making if she came down the asle in a pink dress to all of us it would have seemed like automatic Joy for this couple now it looks like DOOM i get the black goth look but take your wedding day serious you only do it ONCE. On the other hand my sister got married in a black gown biker style and her and her husband lived happy till the day he died RIP HERB
