Yes, you can wear colorful eyeliner without looking like you wandered out of Working Girl. Just let these stars show you how.
On the easy end of the colored liner spectrum is Olivia Wilde, who makes her green eyes pop with a subtle wash of lavender shadow. Ready to start slow? Line your eyes as usual with a brown pencil, then dip a thin shadow brush into a silky powder formula (like Benefit’s Velvet eyeshadow in “Orchid Silk”) and lightly wash the shade around the eye. It’s a subtle but striking look that’s still daytime-appropriate.

If you want to move on to something tougher give green a shot. It’s a flattering shade for all eye colors — like Dianna Agron’s hazel ones. Pick up an eyeshadow palette with a number of green shades (like Revlon’s PhotoReady compact in “Pop Art”) and swipe them across the eyelid and around the rim of the eye, with the lightest shades in the inner corners and the darker shades in the crease and outer edges. Play up the retro vibe with black liquid liner and lots of lashes, then keep everything else super-simple.
And if you’re feeling bold, try Kourtney Kardashian‘s screaming teal liner, worn only under her eyes to her husband’s birthday bash. First and foremost, make sure you choose a waterproof formula (Smashbox’s Limitless liner in Peacock shouldn’t budge) and choose a surface where you can keep your elbow steady. Then after thoroughly concealing, powdering and brightening the under-eye area, layer on the pencil starting inside the waterline and moving out. Add mascara to top and bottom lashes and you’re set.
