This Week's Best Dressed Star: Julianne Hough. Wait, Where Was Kerry Washington?

StyleWatchers, we’re surprised at you.

After weeks of voting looks like this, this and this to the top of the Best Dressed list, you picked something that’s, well, a little snoozy.

We certainly won’t argue that Julianne Hough doesn’t look great. She looks darling. In fact, this may be in her five best looks ever.

But in a week that included outfits like this, this and this, we think you could have picked something a little bolder.

That being said, we can’t deny the simple elegance of her Calvin Klein Collection LWD, worn with clean, classic accessories by the line. And her hair and makeup were perfectly on-point. Okay, we concede, she looks terrific, but we can’t help thinking that one of the other ladies on the list could just as well have nabbed the top spot.

There were other notable appearances in the top 10 (we’re thinking Olivia Munn and Jennifer Lopez, both in perfectly fitted, ladylike sheaths) and one major absence: Kerry Washington, who’s been looking unbelievable on every red carpet lately.

So while we can’t nitpick the top spot this week, we can cross our fingers for a more surprising win the next.

Tell us: Did Hough deserve this week’s Best Dressed title? If not, who did?

If you’re not keen on it…then wh y pick it for one of the best looks of the week?

Well this artcle seems kind of a slam to your readers. If the readers chose it, why not celebrate something that could look good on women of all szes and economic means? I’m not against high fashion, but what’s wrong with never goes out of style?

KiKi on

Then, why ask for the reader’s opinion?

Cari on

You say it could be one of her top 5 looks and then call it “snoozy”? I think she looks great and sometimes simplicity is striking.

Liv on

I hardly ever comment but seriously? This article has a really bad taste to it. If your readers picked it why bring them down for it because it’s not what you like?

Penny on

The only thing in bad taste in this article is chiding readers for their pick after you placed Julianne in the choices. I looked at your this this and this and Julianne beat all three hands down. Bad taste to question your readers pick. Very unprofessional.

Guest on

Every poll result I saw said 80 something percent of readers thought it was miss.

This is a classic look that will never go out of style. Also it’s on trend: black and white.

you’re rude, People Magazine…don’t ask for opinions of the people, if you won’t value them.

Kitchy on

Well given that most of what People picks as best dressed is pure cr*p, I’m not surprised the readers overruled you. And seriously, this is one horribly written and condescending article. Well done, you come across like a second grader who wasn’t getting their way.

What is with your writers lately? The last two articles I have read have been very critical and frankly, rude. There is this one and then there was the article written about the Office Finale that was completely out of line in my opinion. What happened to you, People Magazine? You used to be the best celebrity news source in my opinion.

This is a horrible article. A diss against Julianne, who by the way looks beautiful. And against your readers. Very disappointe in People.

Krissa on

Condescending much, People?

Hey People, stop bashing your readers. Without them you wont get paid.

Mary Hirose on

Wow. What a way to insult your readership while saying the same thing in 7 paragraphs that you said in the very first sentence.

Tina on

I agree. Don’t find the form of the dress flattering. White looks good on only a few people. Unfortunately, people often wear colours that don’t suit them. This is an example

People Magazine, it’s time to fire Alex Apatoff.

kjc on

Meh… while she does look beautiful, it is kind if boring. Especially compared to some if the options they gave – like that yellow dress of Vanessa Hudgens, or the red dress from that girl from… Girls?

The article did seem overly critical of its readers, but I gotta be honest – I kind of agree with them

Kellie on

While I don’t agree with slamming the readers for their vote, I kind of agree with it being ‘snoozy’. The dress washes her out. She needs some color. That said, she always looks lovely.

Good grief People, this is a beautiful classic look. Snoozy. Mayhap you need a snoozy and you’ll feel a little less…oh I don’t know…rude…when you wake up. I’ve been falling out of love with People lately, really, this kind of just did me in. Yuck. Very junior high.

rude much. I think Julianne looks simple, classy and stunning.

If you’re going to hate on the reader’s decision, why even have the voting polls? I’m sure no one appreciates the tone you used to write this article.

ves on

Cute dress, but not well fitted .. hate the hair!
Ladies quit doing the crossed leg while standing, looks like y’all are trying to prevent an accident … really NOT Flattering!!

Nicole on

People, your article is bad and you should feel bad.

Since when jurnalism is subjective ?
Backlash your readers ?! that pay your dinner ?! Think again

sally on

“In fact, this may be in her five best looks ever.” Her best look ever? REALLY? and we need help! Oh pleaz!

sally on

I agree ves! But I can’t stand it when these people in bollywood stand pigeon-toed!

Lala on

This article is in bad taste. Also, there were only 2 dresses listed, that I liked better than Julianne’s. I would pick Vanessa’s yellow dress, as my top – and good for her, because I usually dislike her style. The dress Kerry Washigton wore, looks way too big, on her small frame. The bow is overwhelming, and it’s not fitted well.

Lynda on

People is turning into Eonline with all the nastiness in their articles.

Sparkle on

This is in very poor taste. Not only is People insulting their readers, but they called Julianne snoozy! She always looks great!

poohtattoo on

Hey guess what People. Your readers are your paycheck. All you have to do is “here is what you picked.” And why you think readers picked it. Simple. You are NOT Cosmo. You are NOT a fashion magazine. Stop trying to be what you aren’t and focus on what works.

Maybe then I would actually buy your magazine instead of reading it for free on the web.

Heaven forbid we should like something timeless and classy as opposed to trendy…
