Jennifer Aniston: We All Want Somebody Else's Hair

We’d have thought Jennifer Aniston could do pretty much anything with her hair, but it turns out even the world’s most enviable mane has its limits.

“We all want somebody else’s hair,” Aniston told PEOPLE at an N.Y.C. Living Proof event, citing Gisele Bündchen as the star whose tresses she envies, and adding “I also love Kate Moss‘s hair. It’s that rolled-out-of-bed look. Somehow she can wear a couture dress and just have that. I’ve tried to do that but it doesn’t work.”

Aniston adds that no matter how many times she asks her longtime stylist Chris McMillan to give her that hair, “he’ll do whatever he wants to do.” That’s why — even though she takes care of it with Living Proof’s Restore mask, and she’ll go anywhere to get it washed — only McMillan is allowed to go near it with scissors.

And we can’t say that we blame her for being a little paranoid, considering some of the past disasters she tells us she’s had to contend with. As a kid, “I’d only had mullets! Or those haircuts when you were a kid and you’d get those crazy, like, long at the front and shaved at the back,” she says. “Oh, I just learned so many lessons from my youth of what not to do.”

So that’s why she’s bringing her “Good Hair” Living Proof webisodes (which feature McMillan and girls on the street expounding on hair philosophy) to the masses. It’s all about learning from your mistakes and working with what you have, which is what, as the co-owner of the haircare line, she wants to communicate to women.

“Those girls are adorable and they’ve gotta get better perspective on their hair because they don’t have horrible hair,” Aniston says of the girls in the video series. “It’s so interesting how girls have the wrong perception of themselves.”

Watch the video below, then tell us: Whose hair do you covet? What’s your biggest hair disaster?

I like her !! She’s lovely

@Linda. It’s even more sad that you click on her article and comment if you find it so dull. If you don’t want to read about hair, then why did you click on the article?

She really has absolutely nothing to talk about but herself. Her yoga, her hair, her skincare line, her water, her wedding. Does she EVER look outside herself or do anything to contribute to anything on the planet. With all her money and fame she could do so much and does zip but focus on herself. That’s why she will never have children or adopt despite the headlines saying she’ been pregnant for the last 5 years!

really pleased to see at 2:25 that miss aniston is – contraty to many other actresses – still able to move her facial muscles and get older as a more or less normal 40 year old woman. she doesn’t look like 20 or 30, but se looks really great!

Mich on

Lovely girl but I would like to see a different cut on her for a change

“world’s most enviable mane?” To each her own, I guess.

Worst hair day I had was when I was about 9 and I begged my mother to perm my hair so it had waves or soft curls. My hair was short at the time. When she was done I looked like Shirley Temple! Not that Shirley has bad hair, it just didn’t look as cute on me.

I do not envy her hair. It looks always the same, flat and boring. She has never done anything risky, like Anne Hathaway or Natalie Portman.

Bev on

It is so sad that people are so mean to her. I think that she is great. The point is if you don’t like her then why comment or read an article about her.

I don’t covet no ones hair and especial not Ms Aniston. Her hair looks like straw, damage and unhealthy. She also has some bad skin and not even all that make up can hide it. Ms Aniston was never a pretty woman, the she used to be attractive. It’s not just age, she must not be taking care of herself, our skin and hair are reflections of our lifestyles.

But she does not have the best hair, so I don’t think I get the fuss. Why is the bottom so much darker? Is that the “ombre” look and if so, it is not done correctly as it is not supposed to be so drastic. The color change is supposed to be subtle. But, to each his or her own.

She did the right thing hooking up with living proof- go into sephora and the can’t keep it in stock. i am not one to tout a product but i swear by their shampoos and other products. nothing quite like them on the market. i’d use whether or not she was endorsing/putting money into them or not!!

@surfing…you are an idiot…she gets paid to indorse and she does an awesome job…Oh and why did you not mention that she also talks about St. Judes. Jen is a Beautiful person!

Everytime there is an article about Jennifer Aniston, the green eyed monsters come out to post.. She is beautiful and sucessful, get over it. I love her hair most of the time. It seems that she is ALWAYS pushing it out of her face when I see her on talk shows. It is very distracting to me. She is still amazing, though.

Not really. I’m fine with my hair. It has its good days and bad days, but every black (or gray) strand is my own. So I’m good with it.

Love Jen, hate “the Rachel” (always have). She’s lookin’ good these days.

Surfing: Jennifer Aniston is also a supporter of St Jude for children who are battling cancer and supports other charities. To much has been given, much is expected. She fills that mandate. Be happy for her, not jealous. She is a nice lady, we never hear of her drugged or drunk, never. Most co-workers say she is a nice lady. Good for you Jennifer.

max allshouse on

really, Moss’ s heroin chic is appealing?

blair on

I don’t envy her hair. I think flat and stringy is not very attractive at all and it has been the same for years. The best hair ever was Farrah Fawcett!

Guest on

I wish she would go darker, her hair gets a little brassy (I’m not sure if it’s a word) but just live her a little warmer or a little darker.

Guest on

But the top photo she looks a little like Helen Mirren.

sherry on

I think her hair is pretty boring!!

Brooklyn on

Love her. And she seriously does always look great.

I’m still perplexed how Jennifer Aniston is STILL known for her “great hair.” She had ONE haircut almost 20 years ago that people liked. Ever since its just…straight. There are a million people in and out of Hollywood that have nicer looking straight (or otherwise) hair, IMO. Not being rude about her, I like Jen, I just don’t get it. To me her hair looks over processed and stringy a lot of the time…certainly not amazing like People is saying. Oh well.

Mary Alice on

Jen is so right! If we have straight hair…..we want curls and etc… I have permed my for years and finally have decided I am ok with my straight boring hair! lol. My friends with curls take the iron to their hair….. I like Jen’s dress too. She has gorgeous hair.

carol lange on

Jen needs professsionls on her all the time head to toe, still an attractive woman though.

There are people who smoke that can accommodate
substantial quantities of foods and then there are these scaled
down models that can tackle a person or two meals at a time.
But also what’s more astounding to build use of when holding a cookout, is a completely transportable bbq. The Great Outdoors Gas Smoker This barbecue smoker is of a rectangular vault, oven design, and comes with two oven style cooking grids, a water pan for steaming, and a fully adjustable damper to ensure optimal cooking performance.
