Nicole Richie: I'd Like To Remove My 'Butt Crack Cross' Tramp Stamp

04/30/2013 at 05:28 PM ET

If you ever wanted to watch The Simple Life with Paris Hilton on mute — because Nicole Richie is just that hilarious — have we got good news for you.

The Fashion Star judge (and mom of two) let cameras follow her around for a new AOL web series, #CandidlyNicole, comprising 20 vignettes based on her delightful Twitter account.

In the debut episode, Richie visits L.A.’s Dr. Tattoff tattoo removal clinic to see how hard it would be to get rid of the “tramp stamp” (her words!) she got as a teenager.

RELATED: Check out even more star tattoos (both good and bad) here!

“I was 16 and an idiot and didn’t want my parents to see, you know?” she tells the doctor, adding in an aside, “It just means a certain thing and I don’t want to be part of that group.”

We’d tell you more, but we think Richie says it best in her own words. Warning: If you’re watching at work, you may find your coworkers asking why those Excel spreadsheets are so hilarious.

Tell us: Are you excited to watch the rest of #CandidlyNicole?

This is dumb cause she decided not to get it removed, so this article is pointless.

Elizabeth on

Can’t believe this is news….really People!

RockyRoad on

I think she is hilarious and witty. I thought it was strange that she wouldn’t commit to getting it removed.
Oh well. That is why the only tattoo I have is on the inner lip. No one sees it unless I explicitly show them. Also, if I’m over it (which I am) I don’t have to see it everyday. I honestly think everyone who wants a tattoo should start out with an inner lip tattoo and then decide if the want to tattoo the rest of their body. I thought I wanted a tramp stamp and a side piece and an anklet. But now? Not so much.

Will Kirby is from big brother so this almost seems staged

DontTouchtheWatch on

I love her, she IS hilarious. I suffered through The Simple Life way back when solely because of her.

Shar on

what is a tramp stamp? A tattoo that you had as a kid that you hate? why a tramp stamp of all names?

austin on

How can you not mention the Dr. is Evil dr. will kirby from Big Brother!!!!

Danya on

A “tramp stamp” is a tattoo that, generally, females get on the very lower part of their back, very close to the butt. Thus, the term, “tramp stamp.”

Red on

Ok, did I miss the funny part? She just comes off as an over indulged person who doesn’t want to make a committment…oh, and kind of a bi$ch…

Mouse on

Shar-
A tramp stamp is specifically any tattoo on the lower back, just above your buttocks. I don’t know why that became the name of them, unless it’s because you have to wear “trampy” clothes for it to be seen or perhaps because it would be seen in certain sexual positions???

Lucy on

People call it tramp stamp because of the girls that usually get them in that spot!

Wow! Nicole is so tiny! Those jeans are just hanging off her! I’d be surprised if she weighs 90 lbs. It is nice and healthy to be thin . . . but once you get too thin, you kinda start looking like a plucked chicken!

Rockyroad you’re a flippin moron! Start out with an inner LIP tattoo? rofl. The POINT of a tattoo is to show it off, and for it to be personable so people will ask you your story. I have 8 tattoos and you can see them all depending on what I’m wearing. I’d not hide mine, because I’m not ashamed of them. If you’re ashamed of a tattoo and get it to hide it you shouldn’t get one in the first place. My only advice to people that want tattoos—don’t get a “fad” and get it somewhere you want, not where your friends have it or where your friends want it. RR if you got your lip tattoo for YOU that’s awesome, but don’t recommend that to others.

I am actually proud of Nicole. She shook off her crazy friendship with Paris Hilton and then transformed herself from an entitled, boozing and drugging party girl, to a responsible wife and mother to her two kids. I am not mad at her. ♥ Nicole!

It’s Dr. Will from Big Brother!

Jenny on

@Melissa, I agree with you that the Rockyroad is a complete moron, but the point of a tattoo is not to show it off. I’m not ashamed of my tattoos either (5, all but 2 are hidden by clothes 95% percent of the time) but I got them to represent personal and meaningful points in my life that I want to remember, not so that people would ask me about them.

innostranka on

this was not at all funny, nor clever, nor entertaining. it also felt incredibly staged.

LuluAZ on

@ashley….will kirby from BB is a dermatologist that specializes in tattoo removals (I’m pretty sure he didn’t get into the removal business full time until a couple of years ago.)

WiddoMouse on

Now there is an entirely new medical sub-specialty:,,tattoo removal. I hope all those people who are getting tattoos today think carefully. Getting the tattoo takes minutes. Getting it removed takes months to years. I assume that removal is far more expensive than getting the original tattoo. Can you imagine how a butterfly, for example, looks on a 75 year old body? It’s beautiful at age 20 but looks like a dead and deformed moth at 75. Think before you ink.

She has grown up and matured so well since she became a Mom. She hasn’t lost herself, she grew up, and I am happy for her.

To answer a question from another poster:

A “tramp stamp” is specifically a tattoo, right above the split in your backside.

When you bend or stretch, and your shirt and pants gap, the tramp stamp draws attention to looking down your pants.

Mar on

She’s cute! I really like how she’s matured with age, settled down but still knows how to have a good time. I think the clip was lighthearted and fun.

Can I please have that 4&1/2 minutes back to my life? Nicole Richey is just a rich b!tch. Not impressed with her and I didn’t laugh once.

Brandi on

Lol I totally understand how she feels about her tattoo. We’re the same age and I remember that period in time where it was incredibly trendy, rebellious and fun for girls to get tattoos on their lower backs like that. I remember being in high school and seeing so many girls I knew showing off their new tramp stamps that they were keeping a secret from their parents and families. I went through a pretty wild “body modification” phase that started when I was 18 and my first tattoo was a tramp stamp across my back. It was very spur-of-the-moment and trendy, lol not thought out at all and ended up being one of my only regrets as well as an expensive, long and painful lesson to learn when I became very unhappy with it and had to go through laser removal sessions (I had to have it lightened at the age of 28 to make it possible to eventually have it turned into a tattoo that was planned and extremely meaningful to me). I’m so glad I went through the experience though because it did teach me that tattoos aren’t like other accessories that can be easily discarded when they are no longer “cool” and should be a process that includes researching potential tattoo artists, their work, tattooing practices, and picking a tattoo that really means something to you and represents you down to the core. I’m seeing a lot more of shows and stories in the media that depict people that got tattoos for various reasons and regret them and I think it’s good to put that out there so people (especially younger people) can see the downside of getting tattoos on a whim and gives them something to really think about. Kudos to Nicole for sharing her story :) I think tattoos are such a beautiful form of self-expression but should be something you really invest a lot of time and effort into as they stay with you for a lifetime <3

I didn’t find the video funny. It’s too bad that she is so impatient. If as she claimed the tat makes her feel bad about herself then it would be worth the time. If she just said that for the video that’s a different story.

I was contemplating getting a tattoo 15 years and got this advice from an older friend who had several:
Get a picture of the tattoo you want to get and post it somewhere you look everyday (bathroom mirror, next to TV, by computer, etc…) If after a year you still enjoy looking at it, then get it. If not, it isn’t for you.
I thought a year was a long time to wait but it is nothing compared to the lifetime you will have it or lengthy removal.
Glad I didn’t do it. Many people should really think beforehand of the impacts and appearance down the road. FYI you don’t see many CEOs or drs all tatted up.

Melissa on

Love her she’s grown up and classy!! Get it done girrrrrl!! Woohoo!

Hillary on

Isn’t the guy with the neck tattoo Keith Garsee? He has a TV show called “The Melt.” He’s hilarious!!

Linda on

This is why I’ll never get a tattoo. I’m sure I’ll regret it later. Harry Styles of One Direction got that huge butterfly tattoo across his abdomen. I wonder if people like him and Justin Beiber who get them just to feel like an adult, or at least like a rebellious bad boy, will regret it when they grow out off this teen rebellion phase.

Jennifer on

The biggest reason why I will NEVER get a tattoo!!!!

You get one, and don’t like it a couple of years later…YOU ARE BEYOND SCREWED!!!!!
