See Michelle Obama’s Second ‘Vogue’ Cover

Barack Obama has already said that he has a lot in common with Jay-Z (noting they both have daughters and wives more popular than themselves). Now in the April issue of Vogue, he’s comparing wife (and the magazine’s cover star) Michelle to Beyoncé.

Why? Because she’s glad that his high-powered job required him to get more suits and lose the pair of khakis he’s had since he was 20. “Michelle’s like Beyoncé in that song,” he jokes. “‘Let me upgrade ya!’ She upgraded me.”

Also on his style team: daughters Malia, 14, and Sasha, 11. “The girls and I are always rooting when he wears, like, a stripe,” Michelle says. “They’re like, ‘Dad! Oh, you look so handsome. Oh, stripes! You go!’”

President Obama isn’t the only one whose style has changed over the course of his administration; case in point, Michelle’s hair is definitely different than it was on her first Vogue cover in 2009.

But her style philosophy remains the same: “I always say that women should wear whatever makes them feel good about themselves,” she says. “That’s what I always try to do.” And with a second Vogue cover under her belt, it appears to be working for her! When I voted for President Obama, I was looking for a leader for the country, not someone who was so interested in being a celebrity. I don’t think it’s appropriate for either member of the first couple to spend so much time on late night talk shows or magazine covers.

All recent First Ladies going back to Nancy Reagan have appeared on the cover or inside Vogue. It is worthwhile to have prominent women generating interest in such a big American business, such as the fashion industry. Plus, attention needs to be paid to the growing obesity epidemic in this country, which the First Lady is trying to combat to help cut down on exploding medical costs to us all.

She looks good, we saw her in person recently, however, that photo has been seriously retouched. She’s not that thin, more of a normal, healthy weight. Why do they feel the need to distort the image? She looks great in person, the way she is, they didn’t need to do this! Normal weight is ok. I think leaving it untouched is a nice inspiration.

Every issue of Vogue, not just this one, praises the Obamas in some way or other, as well as other magazines, television shows, etc. It’s turned into a personality cult! This is America, NOT North Korea! We do not worship at feet of our leaders. The Obamas are trying to propagandize everything and be worshipped and adored. It’s sick. Our president is seeking to become a king or dictator. Soon we will be forced to salute his portrait on every streetcorner! It amazes me how small minded the people on this site are and how forgetful this nation is. I am to the US in 1990 and I remember Mr. William JEfferson Clinton making his rounds on the talk show circuit. The most memorable? Him playing his sax on the Arsenio Hall Show. This is the way of the World. Celebrities captivate our attention. So much so, that we put A LOT of pressure on these celebrities to be role models for our children… which I don’t think they should be. Their job is to entertain. Not raise and educate our children. That is what parents, families and teachers are there for. It’s ok for the Pope to tweet and use social media, yet it’s wrong for our free leaders to try to grab our attention through social media. How many of us change the channel whenever the president has a speech to give? Why not use social media like every corporation and schools across the world reach a broader audience? What is so wrong w/that? I too have the same thing in common w/mrs Obama and Beyonce. I upgraded my bf as well. Upgrade you is my jam and I let it be known to bf that I did upgrade him. I think it was a cute comment. One that I obvioulsy (and not everybody) got. Not everyone got the comment. If you do not know that song or like Beyonce’s music than you wouldn’t “get” the quote or where it’s coming from. That is why they are using social media like they are. Because not everyone is going to understand things the same way and many of us get our news from various sources.. like it or not. This is the “new” way of the World and I for one think that the Leader of our World should be aware of how fast our lives are changing. He should be aware of the current tools being used in schools and he should be aware of the ways he can reach a broad audience and TV does that. Bill knew that so did Reagan, who by the way was an actor before he became president. Rudy Giuliani as well as Mike Bloomberg used the media to garner more attention after 9/11. Our world is changing and we shouldn’t punish/judge the President for knowing so and getting with the times.

Thanks to his recent antics: golfing with Tiger, cutting defense, as well as education and health benefits for our soldiers and veterans, his approval rate is down around 40%.
