Jennifer Aniston’s Stylist Shares Inside Scoop on Her Oscars Hair

02/26/2013 at 02:30 PM ET

We know why Jennifer Aniston picked her dazzling red Valentino gown for Sunday’s Oscars, but what was the thought behind her hair?

Her longtime stylist, Living Proof’s Chris McMillan, says the star wanted to stick with what works. “She wanted to keep the makeup natural and the hair natural,” he says in the exclusive clip above. “I think it’s about, at this point, being really comfortable on the red carpet.” Amen!

To hear more on Aniston’s Oscar night look, and to hear McMillan give a how-to on the night’s hot short hairstyles (his faves were Anne Hathaway and Charlize Theron), watch the clip above.

Her hair was horrible! It was sticking up in the back like a bunch of little hairs. It almost looked like it had been singed/burned and the little hairs were standing up. Strange is what I thought. She wears her hair the SAME all the time—could have put it up for this shin dig.

If “natural” means stringy and flyaway, she nailed it.

she looks like she traded her fashion statement bikini for a red prom dress and went to the Oscars. Her hair needed to be brushed and put up, you saw the hair before you saw anything. Sorry “poor Jen” fan club but she looked rough.

I love Jen but feel the same as most. I think she is insecure about her ears. She wears her hair down ALL the time, but when I saw her at the Oscars that’s the first thing I noticed, not her beautiful dress. I said Her is down!! C’mon Jen, do something different!! Please!!!!!

I’m not saying that she has to do the Jlo slick-your-hair-back-so-it-gives-you-a-facelift-look, but she needed to do something different. Same thing with her makeup. She doesn’t need a heavy smokey eye, but something a little more dramatic. I don’t think its a “I’m just comfortable being me.”. Its a “I’m afraid to try something new.”. Its the same thing as seeing someone wearing the same Joan Jett hair and heavy eyeliner look they sported in high school. This was the Oscars and it didn’t involved “that other couple”. She could have stolen the spotlight, but instead she decided to play it dull…I mean safe.

To answer the title of this article: Because Jennifer Aniston is boring. Same hairstyle, same clothes, same vacation spots, same movies. Wash, rinse, repeat.
Why do you even need a hair stylist if you are doing the same thing over and over again?

she’s boring and i’m bored with her. it was the oscars for crying out loud. without the dress – she looked like she was going to yoga or the grocery store.

Is it sad to be known only for you hair? I thought she looked like she was trying to be 20 again….

I am in agreement with the other posters. “What works”, didn’t work with that gorgeous dress. It looked like the she couldn’t be bothered getting ready.
