Britney Spears Goes Brunette!

Looks like another star is having quite the breakover beauty moment.

Newly single Britney Spears popped into Elton John’s annual Academy Awards viewing party Sunday night wearing a slinky, sparkling black Michael Cinco gown accessorized with de Grisogono jewels, Saint Laurent shoes and some brand-new brunette hair.

The singer, who arrived around 10:15 p.m. with her publicist and manager, quickly made the rounds at the City of West Hollywood Park, pausing for some photos with Elton and nodding her head to Emeli Sande’s live tunes.

Her stay was brief — Spears left around 11 p.m. — but she made quite an impression: According to a source, everyone was buzzing about how great she looked.

Spears went brunette in 2006, 2007 and twice in 2009, all to mixed reviews. But we think this rich chestnut color is definitely her best try yet. Tell us: Do you prefer Spears as a blonde or brunette?

I’ve never been a huge Britney fan, but I’ll admit she really looks great. This is the best color I’ve seen on her. It’s very complimentary to her skin tone and eye color and it looks natural on her. She should stick with it rather than going back to blonde or a darker brunette. The best she’s looked in years. Good for her!

Britney’s hair looks amazing here. She definitely looked great as a blonde in the past, but lately it seemed it wasn’t as glossy/shiny looking and maybe an unflattering blonde color. This really gives her a new look, and it’s really working fabulously for her! Way to go, girl!

I love the hair color – It definitely makes her look younger – my only complaint is that she overdid it with the bronzer on her face – her complexion is not that dark so it looks a little off compared to the rest of her body -but she still looks sooo much better with this hair color! Of course she looks best as a brunette because it is her natural color. The same goes for Jessica Simpson. They bleach their hair blonde and wear wigs and extensions and people tend to forget that they are natural brunettes, which is much more flattering.
