January Jones: ‘My Hair Is Falling Out in Clumps’

January Jones might have been channeling David Bowie at the SAG Awards Sunday night with her pompadour, but considering she’s a risk taker when it comes to her hair, we can’t exactly say we’re shocked.

After all, this is the same woman who has tried almost as many mane colors as Katy Perry, including blonde, brunette, red and even pink highlights. But she admits hitting the hair dye bottle so often has caused some major damage to her tresses.

“I have been every color and now my hair is falling out in clumps,” the star tells Grazia Daily. “I’m going to have to shave it off and wear a wig.”

So we won’t be surprised if Jones sticks with platinum for now — or at least until her hair recovers. (And no, not because blondes have more fun.) She prefers her bright blonde hue for a more sentimental reason: “My son recognizes me in photos when I am blonde. He says ‘mama.’”

And it isn’t just baby Xander who has a tough time putting a name to a face when Jones isn’t rocking Betty Draper’s signature shade: Other people close to her had no idea who she was when she first went dark brown. “I was suddenly invisible,” she says. “Not just as a celebrity, but to my friends and family. I was like, ‘Come on you guys, it’s me!’” Tell us: Which hair color do you prefer on Jones?

I don’t like this chick, there’s something very “I’ll be your bff and **** your man” about her and she’s not pretty to me

I’ve been dying my hair regularly since 9th grade, and I’m sure that’s not great for it. I’ve noticed thinning and dullness over the last couple of years, and I’m betting the constant coloring has a lot to do with it.

she should be blonde!! it suits her well!

Platinum blonde is more of a white blonde, definitely not what her hair color is now. And over processed hair gets weak and breaks off, shouldn’t be literally falling out in clumps. Time to see a doctor…

It’s normal after having a baby. I just had one in September & my hair still falls out in large amounts. Everything grows stronger & more abundant when you take pre-natal pills. Totally normal!

Duh! She just had a baby! You lose hair until your baby is like 6 months old! It has nothing to do with hair colour

Didn’t she recently have a baby? If so that could be why her hair is falling out. When my daughter got to be around four months or so, all of a sudden I started losing hair. It went back to normal and even grew back several months later. No big deal.

Wonder if she is doing a low carb diet? That can cause hair loss. Or perhaps she needs her thyroid checked out.

For those of you saying you’ve been dying/bleaching your hair for so many years, I think you’re mistaken about Jones. You’ve all most likely dyed/bleached your hair responsibly (as in only doing it when necessary or at least some time in between hair jobs). Methinks Miss Jones changes her hair whenever she sees fit and that is something that can be extremely damaging to your hair. You can’t constantly dye your hair every other week or even every month. Bleaching too often is especially a no-no. I’ve heard reports that Lady Gaga is losing her natural hair as well, due to all the work she’s had done to it (most likely in a short amount of time). Since these women can afford exceptional hair care, it’s really their fault for doing this to their hair.

No matter what you’ve done or how you live your life, the only person to judge you is God. The nature of your complaint wasn’t how you live your life, but your hair. People are so cruel in life, and seem as if they will never grow up. Hope you can find the solution to your hair problem, if so, please let me know. Good luck!!!
