January Jones: ‘My Hair Is Falling Out in Clumps’

January Jones might have been channeling David Bowie at the SAG Awards Sunday night with her pompadour, but considering she’s a risk taker when it comes to her hair, we can’t exactly say we’re shocked.

After all, this is the same woman who has tried almost as many mane colors as Katy Perry, including blonde, brunette, red and even pink highlights. But she admits hitting the hair dye bottle so often has caused some major damage to her tresses.

“I have been every color and now my hair is falling out in clumps,” the star tells Grazia Daily. “I’m going to have to shave it off and wear a wig.”

So we won’t be surprised if Jones sticks with platinum for now — or at least until her hair recovers. (And no, not because blondes have more fun.) She prefers her bright blonde hue for a more sentimental reason: “My son recognizes me in photos when I am blonde. He says ‘mama.’”

And it isn’t just baby Xander who has a tough time putting a name to a face when Jones isn’t rocking Betty Draper’s signature shade: Other people close to her had no idea who she was when she first went dark brown. “I was suddenly invisible,” she says. “Not just as a celebrity, but to my friends and family. I was like, ‘Come on you guys, it’s me!’” Tell us: Which hair color do you prefer on Jones?

Poor girl. Weird though I’ve been coloring my hair for 15 years and it’s not falling out. I feel bad for her.

She just had a baby. Read a book or check with other Moms. Its normal.

Actually, lots of women experience lost of hair falling out several months after a pregnancy due to hormonal changes – without having dyed their hair.

I like her better as a brunette. It seems like no matter what hair color, people don’t generally like her at all. I wonder why? I’m totally serious when I ask that.

Hair doesn’t fall out from over processing, it breaks off. How old is her baby? Perhaps she doesn’t realize that there’s a normal postpartum hair loss, especially when you wean the baby. This is probably what’s causing her hair to come out in clumps. Happens to many moms several months after the birth.

It doesn’t matter if she’s bald. She’d probably still land guys like Josh Groban and Jason Sedekis…I’m jealous….

It is probably not from her dying her hair but from her hormonal changes after having a child. My hair fell out in clumps after all three of my kids. It usually started when my child was 5 months an go until they were about 18 months. My last child it fell out for a good 2 years. But this is not in a lot of baby books about pregnancy!

My hair falls out in clumps when my thyroid medication needs adjusted. It’s a major tell-tale symptom, along with exhaustion and extremely dry skin. She may want to have a physical with a full blood work up!

A visit to the doctor to get hormone levels checked would probably help. Could be the changes after having a baby or a thyroid issue. That said, there are a lot of catty and hateful women on this board. Ease up, ladies.

@Kelly, those that accuse work from a guilty conscience…
