An Open Letter to Kanye West

Dear Kanye,
We get it. You love fashion. You take the industry very seriously — so much so that you designed your own line. And you even have the confidence to step out in a kilt. Basically, you wear things that most men wouldn’t dare to, and that’s awesome.
That said, we have a slight (okay, major) issue with your recent Paris Couture Week look. Particularly, your accessory selection: What’s the deal with the red knit facemask you wore to the Maison Martin Margiela show on Wednesday?
Sure, it’s cold in Paris, but it’s cold in N.Y.C., too, and you don’t see us walking around channeling a superhero.
So we’re assuming you thought you were making some sort of bold style statement. And while something like this might come off cool on the runway, unfortunately, that doesn’t mean it translates into the real world. (Though the rest of your outfit — white on white layers topped off with a black trench — was spot-on.)
Given this isn’t the first time you’ve worn such a contraption, we bet you have a lot more in your wardrobe. But please, if you must succumb to your inner-model desires and cover your face with a mask — save it for the stage.
