Michelle Obama Wears Jason Wu Again at Inaugural Ball

Just like President Obama, Jason Wu is getting a second term!

Michelle Obama stunned in a custom ruby-red chiffon and velvet halter-neck gown by Jason Wu at the inaugural ball in Washington, D.C. on Monday night.

It was a surprising choice considering Wu also designed the flowing one-shoulder white dress the FLOTUS wore four years ago when her husband was sworn into office. It was the look that catapulted the young designer’s career.

Obama paired the jewel-tone number with Jimmy Choo shoes, a handmade diamond-embellished Kimberly McDonald ring, Kimberly McDonald for Forevermark diamond bangles and of course, her brand new bangs.

Wu beat out a number of other designers vying for the honor of dressing the fashionable First Lady on the big night including Derek Lam, Marchesa, Michael Kors, Prabal Gurung, Tory Burch, Tracy Reese, Narciso Rodriguez, Naeem Khan and Thakoon.

And it turns out Wu couldn’t believe he earned yet a second White House style seal of approval. Shortly after the First Lady stepped out in the gorgeous creation, he tweeted, “#inshock!!!”

Earlier in the day, Obama chose a navy Thom Browne coat, plus a jeweled belt, J.Crew gloves, Cathy Waterman earrings and Reed Krakoff boots for the ceremony at the Capitol.

The First Lady’s inauguration day wardrobe, including accessories, will be donated to the National Archives. Tell us: Do you like the First Lady’s red Jason Wu gown?

Just My Opinion on

I heard some say, she should have given a another designer a chance. A woman likes, what a woman likes. She like his designs.

Why is it that while people complain about the cost of her clothes, no one is mentioning the fact that she has often worn gowns more than once? She and her children often recycle and change the look with a different blouse or sweater. How many other first families have done that? Plus they are responsible for some expenses out of their own pockets. They had money before they got in office. Do you think Ann Romney would have worn something already seen had they won? NOT!

You know the amazing thing about Jackie O is that one never had to qualify compliments with “for her figure” etc. That’s because Jackie created fashion trends and followed an inherently stylish personal taste. While this is a personal best for Ms. Obama, she is no Jackie O. Just keeping it real.

For a woman with a good shape and who works for it, I don’t think this dress was super flattering, too much flare, looks a bit tenty on the bottom. Although, the color is gorgeous.

Beautiful lady in a stunning color and dress. Love the bangs but the false eyelashes are so heavy, it’s hard to see her eyes. Eyelashes TOO FAKE!

Ugh can’t stand her. A designers dress paid by the Tax Payers Money Again! I think she looks like an Ape. OOOOO:)

Beautiful and classy as always! Love this dress and love her new hairstyle. What is wrong with you people commenting on the cost? First of all, every President earns a salary and has a separate expense budget for certain items. Secondly, designers give these dresses to the First Lady for free because it’s major publicity and an honor when their dress is chosen. Finally, the Obamas are independently wealthy. The salary he earns is a drop in the bucket compared to what they used to earn and what he’s earned from his books. $300k is nothing. Many normal people make more than that.
