Five Hair and Makeup Looks We Loved at the Critics' Choice Awards
While we were chilling on the couch in our PJs, a host of stars were getting glammed up for the second night in a row, this time for Thursday’s Critics’ Choice Awards in Los Angeles. And while there were a lot of standout gowns, five hair and makeup moves in particular really turned our heads …
Eva Longoria‘s smoky eye. The actress took her everyday look up a notch for Thursday night’s big event, opting for matte skin and a muted lip that allowed her smoky eyes to really pop (seriously, we could see those lashes from space).
Emily Blunt‘s red lip. With her skin so fair, her hair so blonde and her dress so white, Blunt really needed some kind of color on her face. So makeup artist Jenn Streicher opted to use Giorgio Armani’s Lip Maestro in shade #503 — plus lots of YSL Volume Effect Faux Clis black mascara — to get her girl glam.
Naomi Watts‘s side part. Hello, hot hair! We loved Watts’s kohl-lined eyes and pretty pink lip (both courtesy Chanel and makeup artist Pati Dubroff), but it was her side-swept hair, finished with a few perfect curls, that had us in awe. It was a sweet counterpart to her sexy dress, too.
Elle Fanning’s orange eye shadow. When you’re 14, why not have some fun with your makeup? That’s what this Fanning sis decided to do, working with makeup artist Erin Ayanian to create an orange eye using Chanel’s Soft Touch Eyeshadow in “Lotus” fading from lid to crease. (And here’s a secret: The teen has such great skin she didn’t even require foundation for the night!)
Amanda Seyfried‘s top knot. The blue lace trim along the neckline of Seyfried’s dress inspired Suave Professionals Celebrity Stylist Jenny Cho to put the star’s hair in a modern updo. Cho actually made six ponytails on Seyfried’s head — three at the crown, three at the back — twisting and securing them all with bobby pins to create a carpet-appropriate top knot.
