Why Eddie Redmayne’s Girlfriend Helps Him Get Dressed

Eddie Redmayne, the British heartthrob who plays Marius in the film adaptation of Les Misérables, owes his girlfriend many thanks for helping him become one of Hollywood’s newest best-dressed male stars.
“I’m color blind,” Redmayne told PEOPLE on Tuesday at the National Board of Review in New York, where he and his Les Mis costars Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried won the best ensemble cast award.
“I’m confused with colors. When I go out to premieres and events, I have to check with my girlfriend [Hannah Bagshawe] that the trousers match the top,” he explained. “I recently wore a blue suit — and I had to ask her if it was really blue rather than purple. She assured me it was blue. I could not tell the difference.”
The freckle-faced actor, who played Michelle Williams‘s love interest in the 2011 drama My Week with Marilyn, is tight-lipped about his personal life with Bagshawe, but said, “I’m lucky to be with someone who is very supportive.”
The couple has been dating for about a year.
