Anne Hathaway Will Be Keeping Her Pixie Cut

Anne Hathaway didn’t have a choice about chopping her shoulder-length hair and adopting a super-short crop: her role in Les Misérables called for the severe ‘do. But don’t expect the actress to start growing out her hair just because the film has wrapped.

“I love the short-haired lifestyle,” Hathaway says in the December issue of Vogue. “I’m turning 30, and — I hope this isn’t obnoxious to say — I feel prettier, and much more myself. I guess I just feel much more satisfied with less now.”

Something else the actress felt beautiful in? Her custom ivory-and-pink Valentino wedding dress. Hathaway ended up loving the gown, but says that during the start of the design process, she and Valentino weren’t seeing eye-to-eye. “I begged him during the first fitting to make the train detachable. He looked at me and said, ‘But it is a dress, not a costume.'”

Hathaway ended up taking the designer’s advice — and is glad she did. “He somehow read my mind and designed the dress that I’d always wanted,” she shares. Non-detachable train and all.

To read more of Hathaway’s Vogue cover story, pick up the December issue, on newsstands Nov. 20, or go to Vogue.com. Tell us: Do you think Hathaway should grow out her hair or keep her pixie?

She should grow it back. The pixie isn’t a good look on her.

I love the short hair!

I love short hair! I have a pixie myself. Ginnifer Goodwin had one but is now growing it out. I find that most famous ladies sport one for a while and then grow it out. Except Halle Berry. It’s refreshing to see ladies with shorter tresses. Good for you, Anne! It looks fabulous on you.

Tina on

I love how free she is. She just doesn’t care, if people find her attractive or not. I love how she barely wears make up, no hair extensions, and she doesn’t tan. It’s weird to see this in Hollywood! She’s not a sex symbol, and that’s okay! If people want eye candy go see: Jessica Alba, Megan Fox, Amber Heard, etc.

Tina on

I forgot to add, Happy Birthday Anne!

I don’t think her facial features are dainty enough for a pixie cut but hey, she’s the one that has to look at herself the most and actually deal with her hair so it’s up to her.

Actually she should grow out of the charlatan she married he’s a regular Jimmy Jones. Read her stories about him carefully they change with time and the telling.

She look fabulous in that pixie cut. Very gamine. Very Audrey Hepburn. Keep it, Anne!!

Journey on

She’s beautiful and can pull it off. I don’t blame her for keeping it short neither.

I love the short pixie cut on Anne- she rocks this look really well and it sets her apart from all the other actresses!

Her hair looks wonderful on her….glad she’s keeping it.

That vogue cover is horrible! She looks like a man.

Megan on

This is random, but I was at a LIVE taping of SNL this weekend. Her voice is out of this word, she’s spectacular! Not only just that, but she was kind enough to stop and sign autographs, even though her body guard was rushing her.

I think you need smaller features for this cut. And while she’s attractive she’s not a sexy beauty by any stretch. Huge eyes, overpowering brows, large nose, wide lips and tremendous teeth. Her hair was kind of an important part of her package. It balanced out the face and softened her look.

Sorry – I liked her in long hair
short makes her look older

sam on

Grow it out. Anne is a beautiful woman but short hair does not look the best on her.

BBB on

Totally agree with you Heather. Also, before anyone starts labeling you a hater I think pointing out her large features is factual. It doesn’t mean she’s not pretty, it’s just that her long hair balanced them out and made the whole package more attractive.

Heather on

Yes BBB, forgot to add I’m not a hater! And I’m not a beauty. But I am oddly attractive and also have porcelain white skin and dark, dark hair. It’s a very specific look that a short do does nothing for. It makes anyone with this stark, contrasting coloring look very masculine.

I think she should do whatever she wants to do ,and what makes HER happy!

Lily on

Nope, it’s her hair. If she wants short hair, she can! =) People can do whatever they want with their own hair.

yuk. makes her face long and fugley

Pixie not for me on

I rarely like the pixie cut. It is too severe. I like most other short hair cuts and understand her logic. The one on the cover is nice because it has more body to the cut. When I was a small child, my mother always had my hair cut in the pixie style because she heard it encouraged curls. I hated it. Perhaps this is the underlying cause of my intense dislike of the style. Perhaps I just see a psychiatrist:)

Lily on

Honestly, this cover does her hair no justice. She was at an event in New York (2 months ago), she was rocking Valentino and she looked completely stunning. Her pixie was styled to perfection.

AnneWF on

Love the short hair!

Heather on

@Pixie:
You’re not wrong! And they have to give it a cutesy name to balance out the masculinity of the cut. It’s the same cut guys are wearing in GQ. Do we call those cuts on men pixie? I’m not saying women need long hair, it’s just that there’s a handful who can pull this look off. You have to have uber feminine features to pull it off. And most women don’t have that. And that’s ok!

Anne on

Is it me or does her eyes look kinda weird?

weezerocks@sbcglobal.net on

Pleae!! Grow it back, you look like an ELF!

Marie on

I have always admired Anne Hathaway. I saw her on SNL and new short haircut looks good. Wear your crowning glory the way you feel. Short hair can be somewhat high-maintenance too. Try the new look for awhile. I wish they would stop airbrushing the magazine covers, keep it REAL.

WG on

I like how she thinks turning 30 means its ok to have an old-lady haircut. Bravo!

krtmom on

She rocks short hair!! Shows off her big eyes and other features. I disagree with anyone who says that short hair on women isn’t sexy. I’ve had short hair my whole life and get compliments on it from many men and women. It’s part of who I am!

Jenny on

I love short hair. I think its confident and very sexy….but I have to admit I didn’t think it was a good look on Anne…however I am getting used to it. She can grow her hair out anytime…I’m glad she’s enjoying her new look. Halle has the perfect face for a pixie cut..she has a small narrow face. Halle’s head is small…that look definitely works for her. Anne has BIG eyes…BIG smile…just beautiful..I love her brown hair and milky skin.

menotyou on

I’m not a fan of her acting, but I agree with the haircut thing. Long hair is pretty and all, but it’s such a nuisance to deal with and maintain. I keep a short haircut and wear a medium-length long hair wig. So much easier – takes 5 minutes to get ready in the morning, no bad-hair days, and I get to sleep late.

guest on

uh, since it’s HER hair on HER head and it’s HER life, she should do whatever makes HER happy.

Joyce on

Short hair is not a good look on her. Longer hair balanced out her features and softened her look. If she likes the short length, maybe grow it out into a bob or something.

Ann on

The pixie cut is adorable but on very few people. Anne Hathaway doesn’t have the face, and certainly not the ears for it. She had beautiful long, thick hair and I hope she grows it back.

glen on

Grow it back !!!!!!!!!

John F. C. Taylor on

That’s a real pity. She looks so much better in long hair. Still, a shorter ‘do is much less care intensive.

me on

Glad she feels confident and happy with her short hair, but it does not suit her.

Kim on

She’s not pretty to begin with and the short hair just makes her look even more unattractive. I just don’t get the fuss about her. She can act okay but she’s certainly not the “beauty” everyone keeps calling her.

Jody on

I think it looks great! I, too, have a pixie just recently colored blonde too. It only takes me 4 minutes to style & go. I love it. She shouldn’t have to grow out of it. She can make it her trademark look.

Mary M on

She looks SO much better with long hair. I’d love to see her grow it back.

Jacob Allen on

I think she should grow her hair out. I felt sorry for her after I saw that she cut her hair off for “Les Miserables” and how doing that made her cry for over six weeks.
