All About Michelle Obama's Election Night Dress

Four more years with President Barack Obama in the White House means … four more years of amazing fashions from Michelle.

The First Lady exercised her right to look stylish after the polls closed Tuesday night, wearing a pintucked magenta silk chine Michael Kors dress (she’s a fan of the designer), House of Lavande Vintage brooch and black shrug for her husband’s acceptance speech in Chicago. And in true Michelle fashion, she chose a dress she’d worn — twice — before.

“She said that she was so busy with the campaign and their kids that she had no time to think about an outfit and decided at the last minute,” an Obama source tells PEOPLE.

Michelle first wore the dress to a White House holiday part in 2009, wearing it again for a military event in November of 2010, according to the Huffington Post.

“Mrs. Obama looked chic and elegant as always on election night,” Kors says in a statement. “My dress, with its strong color, clean lines and feminine silhouette, has all the elements that have become a part of the trademark style of our First Lady.”

Four years ago, the then-new FLOTUS made her first major style statement in a black-and-red Narciso Rodriguez sheath (daughters Sasha and Malia were color-coordinated with mom). It’s been fun to follow her fashions since then — everything from H&M frocks and Tracy Reese stunners to Naeem Khan gowns and Isaac Mizrahi creations. And we especially can’t wait to see what she wears to the inaugural ball in January — it’ll take a lot to top that Jason Wu dress. Tell us: What did you think of Michelle’s election day dress?

I’m glad she took a dress from the closet. Given the recent storm and people having lost everything it makes a positive statement to the people as to what is most important.

Do we, the tax payers, pay for all these “designer” dresses for Michele the same as we pay for ALL her luxury vacations she and her “friends” take???? Four more years of this!!! GOD help America!!!!

What I think is this article could have provided a more substantial article on Mrs Obama, who she is and how she will continue to motivate the woman of this country. I am sick and tired of shallow commments about who wears what, instead of who is doing what. Such as Mrs Obama has and will continue to enhance the needs of families and children of our military families. Thank Goodness we do not have to with stand the needs and condition of the Romney familys needs and horses

I agree with Renate. I love that she wore this again!

I think it’s pretty interesting that we have a “First Lady” who wears brands that is affordable, that women like us can wear. Even though she has the money to wear the more high end brands, , like Armani, Prada or Gucci. She just doesn’t do it. Which, IMO shows how modest she really is.

She looks like she’s ready to drop a newborn in this picture

I think you missed the point idiots, she wore an old dress, and by the way, ALL of the first ladys have had designers, can you say Nancy Reagan? God help you!
