All About Michelle Obama's Election Night Dress

Four more years with President Barack Obama in the White House means … four more years of amazing fashions from Michelle.

The First Lady exercised her right to look stylish after the polls closed Tuesday night, wearing a pintucked magenta silk chine Michael Kors dress (she’s a fan of the designer), House of Lavande Vintage brooch and black shrug for her husband’s acceptance speech in Chicago. And in true Michelle fashion, she chose a dress she’d worn — twice — before.

“She said that she was so busy with the campaign and their kids that she had no time to think about an outfit and decided at the last minute,” an Obama source tells PEOPLE.

Michelle first wore the dress to a White House holiday part in 2009, wearing it again for a military event in November of 2010, according to the Huffington Post.

“Mrs. Obama looked chic and elegant as always on election night,” Kors says in a statement. “My dress, with its strong color, clean lines and feminine silhouette, has all the elements that have become a part of the trademark style of our First Lady.”

Four years ago, the then-new FLOTUS made her first major style statement in a black-and-red Narciso Rodriguez sheath (daughters Sasha and Malia were color-coordinated with mom). It’s been fun to follow her fashions since then — everything from H&M frocks and Tracy Reese stunners to Naeem Khan gowns and Isaac Mizrahi creations. And we especially can’t wait to see what she wears to the inaugural ball in January — it’ll take a lot to top that Jason Wu dress. Tell us: What did you think of Michelle’s election day dress?

She is such a homely woman.

Just My Opinion on

Did anyone questioned who was paying for Mrs. Bush 1 & 2 clothes? Who paid for all the beads the Bushes wore? Who questioned that when Katrina hit? People get over yourselves. Mrs. Obama is entitled just like the First Ladies before her, no matter what’s going on in the world. SHE IS REPERSENTING THE USA!!!

To all of you who are complaining that this isn’t real news – You do realize that you are reading a story on People.com, right? Not the New York Times or other reputable news source? This is exactly the type of article I visit People.com to read; if I wanted real news then I would go to a real news source…and I would suggest that you do too, instead of complaining here.

Once again those horrible shrugs. Cuts her in the wrong place. She always looks so frumpy, yet with the right cuts could look so beautiful and classy. “Amazing fashions”??? Obviously someone has rose colored glasses on.

Ok I am a straight forward Republican! But I do like Mrs. Obama her husband not so much, I believe he is an idiot who likes to blame his mistakes on others, BUT this is about her dress, which I sorta like but she could of wore different shoes with it or maybe got a different color out of her closet because that color really doesn’t suit her or maybe its how the light is shining on it….But my 4 year countdown has began!

I LOVE THAT SHE RE-WEARS HER DRESSES!

All of you who are in such mean spirits today, complaining about the First Lady’s wardrobe, please take a deep breath and exhale your sour grapes. This is a time for renewal, healing, growth, and change. If we really need to split hairs, the list of designers for previous First Ladies included Chanel, Dior, Blass, and Vera Wang. It is so refreshing to have a fashionable First Lady who pairs her couture with names like H&M and J.Crew….yet another way in which this First Family is down to earth and accessible. I can’t wait for the next four years!!

If you don’t care about what she wore then you should have never clicked on it. After all no gun was put to your head right. Get over it. Obama 2012
