All About Jessica Biel’s ‘Whimsical, Dramatic’ Pink Wedding Gown

When it came to selecting the perfect gown for her Oct. 19 wedding to Justin Timberlake, Jessica Biel was a bit overwhelmed.

“It’s so hard to choose the dress,” she tells PEOPLE, which features exclusive photos and details from the couple’s special day in this week’s issue.

To help her along, the bride turned to longtime friend and designer, Giambattista Valli. “I was really comfortable talking to him about something really important like this,” says the actress, 30.

Ultimately, Valli created a custom petal-pink strapless gown of silk mousseline and silk organza with a light-pink floral motif that “was whimsical and dramatic,” says Biel. Her wedding look also included a heartfelt detail: Her floor-length veil was adorned with pearls from her grandmother’s wedding day tiara.

Valli also outfitted Biel’s four bridesmaids along with her mom, Kim, and Timberlake’s mother, Lynn Harless, for the big day.

As the reception rolled on into the wee hours, Biel changed into a silk shantung and macrame lace strapless dress from Valli’s spring collection.

Love the photo of Justin and Jessica but I also agree that it was a massive fail on People magazine’s part to paste the photo of Britney in the corner.

PEOPLE should’ve left Brit’s picture off the cover…TACKY!!!! Also, NOT liking the pink dress!!!!

It was wonderful of her to go her own style, she looked gorgeous and her dress was pretty as well!! May both of them be happy together!

I loved her dress! It was a very soft pink mixed with white like a blush. I thought the look was beautiful. If I was young again and getting married, I would love to have that gown. She has started a trend xxxo

For those who “just can’t believe” that Jessica work a pink wedding gown — if there’s a law which says wedding gowns are supposed to be white even in this day and age, I must have missed it. Why can’t a bride wear any color she chooses? It’s supposed to be her day! I wore a pale pink dress (lighter than Jessica’s dress) because I was not a virgin and didn’t feel like starting my married life as a fake. I would have felt ridiculous walking down a church aisle in white as though I were a blushing virgin. And for all you little girls who will say “white isn’t just for virgins, it’s a tradition”…whether you like it or not, that IS the tradition, white as a symbol of purity. When you are the bride, you’re entitled to wear any color you like; but please get real: a white dress is no more special or meaningful than any other color, unless you happen to be chaste and then it’s a statement you can make in truth to your groom. Jessica in pink made a beautiful bride.
