All About Jessica Biel’s ‘Whimsical, Dramatic’ Pink Wedding Gown

When it came to selecting the perfect gown for her Oct. 19 wedding to Justin Timberlake, Jessica Biel was a bit overwhelmed.

“It’s so hard to choose the dress,” she tells PEOPLE, which features exclusive photos and details from the couple’s special day in this week’s issue.

To help her along, the bride turned to longtime friend and designer, Giambattista Valli. “I was really comfortable talking to him about something really important like this,” says the actress, 30.

Ultimately, Valli created a custom petal-pink strapless gown of silk mousseline and silk organza with a light-pink floral motif that “was whimsical and dramatic,” says Biel. Her wedding look also included a heartfelt detail: Her floor-length veil was adorned with pearls from her grandmother’s wedding day tiara.

Valli also outfitted Biel’s four bridesmaids along with her mom, Kim, and Timberlake’s mother, Lynn Harless, for the big day.

As the reception rolled on into the wee hours, Biel changed into a silk shantung and macrame lace strapless dress from Valli’s spring collection.

She looked gorgeous in this picture. I seriously had never put any thought into using a soft pink for a wedding gown. Beautifully pulled off. Fresh. Inspiring. An elegant alternative to the various shades of white brides have no real choice but to choose from. When my daughter grows and gets married, this particular shade is definitely something I’d have her consider. Breathtaking!

I personally do not like the dress at all, I would have loved to see her in a traditional ivory or white color wedding dress. I think it takes away from her beauty. Her dress seems like the focal point and not her. Just my personal opinion.

First rule in publishing spell it correctly. It’s Timberlake not Timberake.

That dress is beautiful and she looks absolutely gorgeous. Lucky girl.

@Mandy couldn’t agree more with your comment. So disrespectful. Especially when Britney’s camp is blaming Timberlake for her meltdown years back. This was their big day. Leave Britney out of it! Its been over for years.

I love the pink dress. If I ever got married again I would NOT choose to wear white due to it being a 2nd marriage. I read that’s also why Reese Witherspoon wore pink when she married a 2nd time. This is Jessica’s first marriage–guess she just likes pink!

I’m not a Jessica Biel fan, but she looked absolutely stunning! Not too many women can pull off a pink wedding gown, and she did so easily. I love the cover photo and can’t wait for my issue to see more. With the number of years they’ve been together and the break they took apart, I have a feeling these two have a good shot at going the distance. Congrats to them!
