Why Kate Hudson’s Ann Taylor Shoot Was So Painful

Kate Hudson put her acting skills to good use for her new Ann Taylor holiday campaign. Despite being in excruciating pain during the shoot, she managed to look happy and glowing.
“I had my first horrible wisdom tooth experience,” Hudson reveals in the behind-the-scenes video (below). “I was just pulsating at the mouth.” Shot at the Highline Stages in New York City, the campaign draws inspiration from a deco dinner party.
The holiday collection, which is available this week at Ann Taylor stores and online, features chic party dresses, on-trend tops, printed pants and skirts, as well as a full line of accessories, which Hudson plans on giving as gifts this holiday season. “I love the jewelry. The scarves are great, they’re doing leather gloves and cute little slippers,” Hudson says. She adds, “I love that there’s still color in holiday. They’re still incorporating bold, bright colors and prints.”
This marks the fourth season the mom-of-two has starred in the brand’s advertisements, and she couldn’t be more thrilled about it. “As a brand, the focus is empowering women — and what they stand for philanthropically is just as important as what Lisa [Axelson] as a designer is trying to put forth in order to make women feel beautiful and feel good in what they’re wearing.”
