See the Engagement Ring Guy Ritchie Proposed With

When it came to designing the perfect engagement ring for his longtime girlfriend, model Jacqui Ainsley, Guy Ritchie’s creative chops came in handy.

“He was very involved in the whole process, very interested in each detail of the ring, he’s a director!” jeweler Neil Lane tells PEOPLE exclusively. “Guy wanted something cool, a little vintage and romantic and we closely collaborated on designing something very special.”

After an initial visit to Lane’s L.A. boutique to brainstorm ideas, the filmmaker worked with Lane over several weeks via email and text to hone the design. The result was a five-carat, old European-cut diamond ring set in platinum and “filled with details,” says Lane. “It has an Edwardian feel. Guy’s British and the Edwardian period started in England in the early 1900s and was when pure white, tiny diamonds first came into fashion. This ring has over a hundred tiny diamonds that sparkle around a center stone.”

Needless to say, when Ritchie proposed to Ainsley, who is expecting a child later this year, the filmmaker had an immediate hit on his hands. “Jacqui loved it!” says Lane. “Those two are so happy, totally in love and excited for the baby and their future.”

wow this is stunning

Tracey on

This is not a slam against Guy Ritchie or his new fiance, it really bothers me when People states that a couple are longtime boyfriend and girlfriend and it has only been two years or so. That is not longtime in my mind. This applies to people like Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt (sp?).

Tina on

It reminds me so much of the ring Brad Pitt supposedly designed for Angelina. And, I can’t remember who right now, but some other celebrity supposedly designed a very similar ring.

Janet on

WOW – beautiful ring. It looks like it could feed a small world country.

ME on

good for this guy he was miserable with madonna i hope he’s really happy now

Sam on

Same ring different celebrity

daphne on

.. sigh, I agree with Janet– but it’s sure easy on the eyes–

I prefer the pink diamond ring Ryan Reynolds designed for Blake Lively.. and also the real beauty that Jim Toth gave to Reese Witherspoon—

All of Neil Lanes rings look the same….the bachelorette shows use his rings and i don’t think they are unique at all but all the best to them nonetheless!

Mary on

Beautiful ring! Congrats. I am happy for them. Tracey, I agree with you.

fanofboardwalkempire on

beautiful ring and I wish the happy couple great joy and happiness!

Carrie M on

Wowza!!! Can I pick one up at WalMart?!

sopho on

I LOVE IT!

A burke on

Just dont care for the large center stone.

justsayin@hotmail.com on

Honesty, he helped design it? How much different can a ‘ring’ get? Everything has been done. You meant to say, he PAID for it!

smokey on

It is beautiful, but…this seems to be the ring all the celbs are going with the last few years. They really all do look the same.

jones on

@Tracey, I agree with you. Longtime implies at least 5 years to me.

Soqui on

Beautiful! I hope that they will be very, very happy!

Max on

Nice ring but all of these big engagement rings are starting to look the same.

HighPriestess on

This is soo much prettier than Jennifer Aniston’s ring.

KrissyLee on

Too big and gaudy. Just like the rest of the rings.

Tanya on

I think this prettier than Jennifer Aniston’s ring.

mrsmass on

sooo just like every other neil lane ring we’ve seen on here.

Erika on

Ridiculously big. Not a fan!!

Eva on

So happy for them. He always seemed like such a nice guy and too good for Madge! Congrats!

DTM on

Nice ring, and it’s nice he had Madonna’s money to pay for it.

notsosure on

Waste of money on something that will only last five years. Better to keep your money in the bank for the divorce settlement. This woman seems like a golddigger, getting pregnant twice in two years of dating!!!!!

LSmith on

Absolutely gorgeous!!

Really on

Why do they say he designed this? It looks JUST LIKE every other ‘designer’ ring!

april on

It looks like a standard Neil Lane ring…

Leave Jen Alone on

Congratulations! What a beautiful ring and I hope they will be very happy. I won’t imagine the hoop jumping he had to do being married to Madonna. Best wishes.

Guest on

@tina…research your facts. The cut and entire ring is TOTALLY DIFFERENT than Angelie Jolie’s ring. Not even close.

Sandy on

did the money he got from Maddona buy the ring??? I mean who was this guy before he was married to her?

crystal on

Materialistic rich people ugh!

MamaV on

What a beautiful ring! I wonder what the wedding band will look like!

Teddy on

It is beautiful. Question, though: what kind of “design” is needed beyond “take a big honkin” diamond and surround it by other diamonds”. Just asking……..

Karen on

Is it just me, or are these engagement rings starting to look really similar? I swear that I must’ve read Neil Lane talk about closely designing unique rings with various people a billion times, and his rings always look pretty un-unique to me.

Siobhan on

It’s pretty but honestly, it looks like so many other Neil Lane engagement rings that we’ve seen in the past few years. How is this unique?

mary on

It looks like all the other celebrity engagement rings–not too unique at all!

Emily on

Guy Richie fiance looks to be about 20 something years younger than him….she looks she could be his daughter….such a cliche…how sad:(!

TiaB on

Now that is a gorgeous ring!!

Cathy on

All I can say is: Whoa…

Sophia on

Hey People, two years of relationship definitely does NOT mean “longtime girlfriend”. You need 5 years or more to write that.

P.S. I like the ring.

Stephanie on

@ Tina…this is absolutely nothing like the ring Brad designed for Angelina….there is no comparison in shape or any other aspect.

LOL on

@ Sam. I totally agree!

LOL on

I totally agree. Same ring different celebrity

liesye on

i agree with Janet… but that’s his right. if i were his fiance a little gram of gold will do. no need big fat money to say “i do”.

Scooter on

Of all the celebrity rings shown recently, my opinion is Blake Lively’s by far is the most beautiful…

susan on

Tracey – agreed. Take Alex O’Laughlin – he just started dating the woman who is due to give birth to his child momentarily last fall – which means they were together less than 3 mos before she got pregnant, yet all articles on this subject refer to her as his “longtime” g/f. REALLY?? Personally I think the fact that more Hollyweird couples are getting knocked up outside of the marital commitment is making it too acceptable in our society. Stop glamorizing it – it’s not the best way to have a child. Just my opinion of course..

itsallgoodnroanoke on

Oh please, Madonnas momey helped pay for it. That is y its STUNNING!
