Ginnifer Goodwin on Red Carpet Gowns: It’s Not in a Name
Bauer-Griffin
Though Ginnifer Goodwin is often spotted wearing dresses from the likes of Jenny Packham (left) and Monique Lhuillier, it’s not intentional.
“I really don’t go for a dress based on a designer,” Goodwin told PEOPLE at the Entertainment Weekly Pre-Emmy Party in Los Angeles on Friday. “Whoever designed it is usually secondary to me, and how I feel about the dress itself [is first].”
Because of this, the actress also ends up wearing looks by under-the-radar fashion labels.
“I often wear new designers,” she admitted. “There are some newer but esteemed designers like Jonathan Saunders — who I’ve been wearing a lot recently — and Erdem, which I really love.”
Something the Once Upon a Time star also loves? Choosing gowns that offer unexpected touches. “I feel that I am still in a phase of my life where I love classic shapes with very modern, pinky twists,” she explained. Case in point: Her risk-taking orange Monique Lhuillier Emmy Awards gown. Tell us: What do you think of Goodwin’s red carpet style?
