“I loved Tina Fey, Heidi Klum, Padma Lakshmi, Julia Louis-Dreyfus,” Rade, who styled Carrie Ann Inaba for the big night, tells PEOPLE. “I loved all of the bright, strong colors! [It was] modern and sophisticated. Also loved some of the embellishment, like on Sarah Hyland’s gown.”
The misses? “I didn’t love some of the poufy gowns, or gowns with excessive draping,” she shares.
Still, Rade calls the night a success. “The Emmys are a great celebration of excellent work in television, and I think overall, people really looked great,” she adds, sharing the sentiments of makeup artist Jo Strettell.
If you want to try some of the emerging Emmys trends for yourself, Rade suggests incorporating elements of stars’ designs into your wardrobe (rather than going out to buy a fancy gown!) and scouring places like T.J. Maxx and Marshalls for deals (she’s a spokeswoman for the stores).
“Don’t go overboard and use [fall] colors in smaller ways,” she suggests. “A great oxblood sweater or blouse, a gorgeous lace top and a statement necklace can all be part of a woman’s fall wardrobe.” Tell us: Which Emmys fashion trends caught your eye?
