Celeb Trend We Don't Recommend: Suit Jackets as Dresses

09/17/2012 at 05:00 PM ET

Yes, Miley Cyrus started it, but Kim Kardashian and Fergie are old enough to know better: a jacket is not a dress!

Both the reality starlet and the Black Eyed Peas singer stepped out last week wearing the same extra-long double-breasted black blazer with gold buttons and satin detail on the collar. Kardashian wore hers sans undershirt (and plus ankle-strap heels) to a Palladium Collection by Jacob & Co. launch party in N.Y.C., while Fergie tried the look with a T-shirt and pumps at a Case-Mate event in the Big Apple.

There’s an obvious reason as to why this look doesn’t quite work — the fact that pants aren’t involved — but it’s just not the most flattering garment we’ve ever seen, either. Both Kardashian and Fergie have fabulous figures that deserve to be well swathed — not covered in somewhat shapeless suit coats.

Don’t get us wrong — we’re all for menswear as womenswear — but maybe next time these stars want to take a risk, they can try tailored suits, sexy vests over low-cut blouses or edgy minis with masculine details. We know they can both do it. Tell us: Do you like Kardashian and Fergie in these suit coats? Would you ever try this look?

Must be nice! Lol

I wouldn’t call Lea a beauty, inside OR out! She’s notorious for her snobby diva attitude. Poor choice, L’Oreal.

Your last spokesperson is someone like Beyonce – and to have someone like Lea follow her? Poor choice.

And can we please have her stop with the whole ‘people make fun of my nose’ ‘never was pretty and blonde growing up’ nonsense.

I love Lea Michele! She is one of my role models. I think she will be a great new Brand Ambassator for Lo’réal Paris. Glee is my favorite show… and she is a good role model. I’m glad that they chose her :)

Zuzu… no disrespect, but she might be a diva on Glee but that is just her character’s personality. You also shouldn’t say that she isn’t beautiful. Everyone’s beautiful in their own way :)

Just ME! :) Haters gonna hate... on

Okay so Zuzu… no disrespect, but she might be a diva on Glee but that is just her character’s personality. You also shouldn’t say that she isn’t beautiful. Everyone’s beautiful in their own way . And you aren’t beautiful because you are critisizing someone else.!!

Lea is not only beautiful but talented. She will make a great spokesperson. That whole diva business is just what the media recycles about her.

I love Lea Michele she is beautiful and a great role model belonging to many charities that support people accepting the way they are . I think she will be a great spokesperson.

Good choice! Lea’s awesome and very talented, I don’t know why people says she’s not pretty, c’mon she really is beautiful!! You deserved it Lea!
