Rihanna‘s new pixie cut wasn’t the only showstopping part of her MTV Video Music Awards ensemble: her luxe mani was equally eye-catching.

The Barbadian beauty flaunted her $100 bill and £50 note Minx manicureon the red carpet, pairing the pricey talons with several bold Jacquie Aiche cocktail rings.

Her manicurist, Kimmie Kyees, applied the strips, but Rihanna likely had something to do with the design selection.”[She] is involved with everything about her look and style — she’s a trendsetter,” Kyees told PEOPLE back in June.

But is the superstar scaling back her look? Her VMA nails weren’t as long as they’ve been in the past — and at times they’ve been really long. “She loves her long nails,” Kyees shared. “She does the iPhone test — if she can still type then [they're] OK.”

Regardless of her nail length, however, Rihanna knows how to make a big (and expensive) statement on a small scale. Tell us: Would you try currency-patterned nails?
