In the midst of debuting a new collection for Macy’s — as well as designing for her other three fashion lines — Nicole Richie somehow found the time to create her first fragrance, Nicole.

Described in a release as “soulful,” the creamy aroma features notes of blackberry, orange, golden amber, Moroccan rose, cashmere, sandalwood, sugared patchouli and vanilla absolute, and is not only inspired by the star’s personal style, but also someone very close to her: her mother.

“I was inspired by the scents of my childhood,” Richie says in a statement. “I knew exactly what I wanted to do because my mom would combine different oils and lotions, and the blend of scents became very special to me.”

In the accompanying Old Hollywood ad campaign, Richie is seen wearing a backless lavender satin dress while set against a colorful sunset scene (left).

To create the glamorous bottle, the designer combined art nouveau and vintage touches. “It’s very much a reflection of my individual style — a spiritual balance of femininity and bohemian,” Richie explains. “It’s the notion that fashion can be easy, comfortable and offer juxtaposition between casual and luxury.”

Nicole hits department stores nationwide on Aug. 29; prices begin at $55. Tell us: Will you buy the fragrance?
