An Open Letter to Kendall Jenner

Dear Kendall,

We love that you’ve managed to step out of your famous sisters’ shadows and become your own woman — you and your sis Kylie are quickly becoming our favorite members of the Kardashian-Jenner clan!

And we often forget that you’re just 16 years old, because, well, you’re really gorgeous and really famous. You also seem to be a whole lot more mature than we were at that age.

We would never, ever want to live our teens in the public eye — from braces and bad hairdos to tacky backpacks and acne, we shudder — and we made our fair share of fashion faux pas in high school. Yet you always seem to get it right … until now.

We’re just going to say it: tan lines are never attractive.

Wardrobe-wise we give you an A: the black-and-white strapless dress is adorable and we love that you teamed it with on-trend booties and a funky hairstyle. But the tan lines are just so distracting.

One positive takeaway from the style mistake, though? At least we know Momma Jenner isn’t working you too hard — you’re getting some off-time to soak up the sun!

Don’t worry too much; this misstep is easily fixed. Next time, just blend the lighter area with some self tanner or bronzer — maybe you could suggest some for your sisters’ upcoming makeup line? Just sayin’.

Love, StyleWatch

Sunscreen would have fixed this problem too…

This is horrible. Direct your open letters to adults, dont go after children during the few years they get to look however they want and get away with it without everyone harping on them. Jerks.

Really? You’re going to bash a 16 year old for having tan lines during summer??! That’s ridiculous, Kendall keep having fun in the sun! We love you with or without tan lines <3

The only thing I see wrong is the hair. The curls are too tight and don’t look good with the dress as for her tan lines, rme. She looks fine and geez she’s only 16.

Kelly on

Really?! Really???!!!! She is 16! Let’s put up a pick of you at 16 and scrutinize it. I’m pretty sure there’s going to be a lot worse things we could pick at you for. You are everything wrong with the world and with media. Like Sarah said–direct your letters to adults and don’t go after kids. And tan lines are not a style misstep–it means that they care more about being outside and having fun than caring what a dumb magazine like People says about them. Back off.

Tan lines are never attractive? You clearly have no idea what is attractive for men. A gorgeous girl like her showing that little bit of white is enough to make most men go crazy.
