What’s Up with Amy Adams’s New Hairdo?

Well, here’s one hairstyle we won’t be including in our Instant Makeover tool! It’s Amy Adams‘s voluminous updo. But before you jump to judgment, know that it’s for a role — and it’s a wig.
The actress was photographed wearing the faux mane last Thursday during the opening night production of Into the Woods (part of the famous Shakespeare In The Park series in N.Y.C.). The musical combines six Grimms’ fairy tales into one story, and Adams plays the baker’s wife.
Though the New York Times was complimentary of her acting skills (“a lucidly spoken and sung performance”), they felt a tad differently about her hair, calling it a “furry tea cozy of a wig” and a “handicap” she had to overcome onstage. (We would add that it looks like Adams had to walk through a wind tunnel to get to the set.)
But we really can’t hate on her hair. In fact, we sort of love that Adams was open to going all out for a role, even if it meant hiding her gorgeous hair under a messy wig. Tell us: What do you think of Adams’s wig — wild or wonderful? Do you like when actors ‘hide’ their beauty for a role?
