Lady Gaga’s September ‘Vogue’ Cover Is Appropriately Awesome

After threatening the magazine with bagels via Twitter , Lady Gaga finally got her hands on her second Vogue cover.

“Who else sees me channeling @RuPaul on the COVER of VOGUE. If only I was as fierce as you b*tch. I did try to come for you with that weave,” the superstar Tweeted after sharing the striking image.

Gaga is statuesque, almost Gumby-like, donning a pink Marc Jacobs fishtail gown paired with poufed-out hair — a major departure from her first Vogue cover.

Inside the September issue, Gaga discusses her upcoming fragrance and the recent reuse of her infamous meat dress. “We were talking about putting the show together,” she says of her latest tour, “And I said, OK, what if I was someone’s grandma and I was going to a concert tonight. How would I know that it was a Gaga show? And we all just sort of looked at each other and said,’The meat dress.’”

For more of Gaga’s interview pick up the September issue of Vogue on newsstands Aug. 21. Tell us: What do you think of Gaga’s second Vogue cover?

Boring. What’s up with the hair?

Kim on

Glad they told me who it is, because I would have never recognized her.

Bennie on

This cover looks odd. There is way too much white space around Lady Gaga’s picture. Also the words and numbers around her totally seem to overpower her… your eye is drawn to the words before the model on a cover. Weird art direction and editorial decision.

guest on

looks like a white rupaul

Chris on

Her magazines are worth lots of money. I already have a few worth 200 to 300 dollars each. Can’t wait to get it.

LM on

She speaks to young people because she’s weird, but Vogue?? I like seeing Kate Moss, Sarah Jessica, or a real fashionista on the front. Especially the Sept issue. Very irritated by their choice.

Jill on

Gorgeous cover!!

cara on

Yay. *eyeroll* Vogue put someone who is weird for the sake of being weird on its cover. Yawn

Kelly on

Totally Photoshopped. Everything about Gaga is fake!!!

Pyrochic on

I thought it was a cartoon of Lady Gaga.

Am on

Cant stand her. So sad they wasted Sept on her…. We wait all year for this issue. Save her BS for a less important cover.

Bonnie on

She looks so pretty, haters can go get a life instead of clicking on her article and posting negative comments. Love it, again

Carol on

The dress is a gorgeous color but I would have never recognized her.

manny on

this is what fashion is all about. Some of you are always hating. I love the covers she does because they are crazy and fashionable. You guys should watch the behind the scenes video, its on vogue.com and she aint photoshopped. Ive seen her in person and she doesnt wear much makeup.

Jhon on

I love it!

Weird is all I can say. Definately NOT what I want to see on the cover of Vogue. Maybe MAD Magazine!!!

midnitevow on

Ahhh…such delicate and exquisite rapture wrapped in pink.

Icychick on

HA, Dr. Suess would have something to say about this!

Irrelevant.

Tash on

Stunning and strangely like Cindy Loo Hoo from the Grinch.

Merry on

Love her.

Mark on

Love it! Cant wait to buy this cover! Love gaga!

Beautiful. She’s an amazing woman–talented, creative, compassionate, and charismatic. It’s a shame so many people came here to hate on her, but being polarizing is the nature of her performance art. She’s not here to make everyone comfortable–she wants to challenge and push forward. I admire her work and think this will be an amazing issue. I believe it’s already breaking preorder records.

Taco Truk on

Is this Lil Kim I’m looking at ? Or Shantie from Design Star Season 0?

SugarBabyFish on

When it comes to sugar baby dating, many people might think of the word “gold digger”. In fact, most of women will admit that they want a financially secured man, who is successful in career and confident with himself. Vise versa, most successful men will want their woman young, beautiful, and have a sweet personality.
——– SugarBabyFish. C.O.M ——– is a focused dating site for sugar baby and sugar daddie. It is the best place to date young beautiful girls and rich successful men. Maybe you wanna take a try.

why does everyone hate her or others because he or she is weird. Weird people are awesome and being weird is what makes them special. Lady gaga might be weird but she’s awesome that way and people should stop hating on others.

jaydee92 on

Love all the “critics” on here. No one cares about your opinion, especially her.

Crystal on

Always beautiful :)

Bobbish on

Gaga is the best.

Paula on

Looks more like Bride of Frankenstein than Vogue. It looks oddly stretched vertically, too.

don on

Awesome? Nope. It’s not bad, but not “Awesome”. Looks like Cruella DeVil.

oscargoldman on

She’s channeling “at RuPaul”?

Brilliant.

Lenora on

Go GaGA! :)

Datch on

I do NOT get the appeal of this woman.

Edie on

Really. NOPE…
She is already old time. Focus on your God given talent, not your weird Hollywood image that will never last. The greats never did that and lasted…

Andro on

What is the point of appearing in the cover of Vogue if they photoshoped her face so much that she looks like Faye Dunaway 40 years ago? The rest of the cover reminds me The Bride Of Frankenstein.

Vanessa on

Love her!!! How on earth can someone not??? She’s an amazing woman. Aside from being so talented. If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything. ..Makes you seem really jealous.

John on

The meat dress was possibly the worst attempt at fashion I have ever seen. It was nauseating to look at. Second use of it is an equally bad idea.

sonia on

Wow! love it!

Tapper on

She is tired … cooked … and why admire a copycat? One days she’s Bette Midler, the next Madonna and then RuPaul. Why can’t she just be herself?

L on

Seriously, talented?
Wben did she become talented?
Man i.need.to pay attention to the office memos more often

meg on

Well Put Cara!

Diana on

I LOVE!!! She looks amazing…

Not Shangela on

She really does look like RuPaul, which is a good thing.

Tiffany on

I guarantee you she’s standing on a stool! There’s no way she could pull of that dress in her height.

Bec215 on

Refreshing to see something different on a fashion mag cover – and that dress could not be done justice in a close-up, and it wouldn’t work on an inside page as a full page. I think the editors saw this amazing dress, and there was only one option: cover. But it doesn’t hurt that it’s the 120th anniversary cover – so when else would you go for something iconic and really different if you’re a fashion mag? Love it!

mary on

LOVE IT!!!!!

fanofboardwalkempire on

I think Lasy GaGa looks amazing on this cover! very striking indeed! great photograph

chris on

Just gorgeous, and the plain white background just makes her pop out. Loving the innocent look and the dress.

Britt on

I’m still not a fan of her anymore.

Kit on

Heavy on the photoshop….as usual.

ErinBuff on

I thought this was RuPaul when I first saw the picture. I was NEVER guess it was Lady Gaga. In fact I still think it’s RuPaul!

candy on

If it didn’t have Lady Gaga’s name on the cover I would swear that it was a picture of Ru Paul.

johnnehgaga on

If they didn’t say it was Gaga, you all would have no negative comments about it. So sit down

johnnehgaga on

if they didn’t say it was Gaga you’d have no negative comments. So sit down, she looks great

Kerricatt on

I think its amazing how she transforms herself every day. Hair, face, body, she always keeps you guessing, always different. I don’t like her hair in this photo and sometimes don’t like anything about her appearance of the day but I think she’s a true inventor and artist. That is what makes her beautiful. She’s one of a kind for sure!!

winter on

The words are big for a reason..itd Vogue they want u to recognize the magazine first..then the person 2nd..ex..aw vogue an look whos on the cover Gaga!..2nd its very creative she looks like every1 but herself an it wks…i like the way it has an almost cartoon an 3D look all at the same time..very Rue!

Suzanne on

I thought it was Kelly Ripa!

Moondancer on

I think it’s fabulous they finally put RuPaul on the cover!
