Pink Is the Newest Face of CoverGirl!

08/06/2012 at 12:45 PM ET

The CoverGirls had better look out — there’s a tough new girl in town. Pink was named the newest face of the beauty brand Monday, joining Taylor Swift, Sofia Vergara, Drew Barrymore, Ellen DeGeneres and Queen Latifah (plus two Olympic stars).

“Joining a group of women who have always inspired me — to laugh out loud, let my guard down, or play around with my beauty look — is such an honor,” the singer says in a release. “I have a lot to celebrate. I called my new album The Truth About Love, and the truth is that I have my beautiful family and baby girl, my new music and now my partnership with CoverGirl to love.”

“Pink is a powerful and provocative role model, who has always been an advocate of individualism and making no apologies for who you are,” adds CoverGirl vice president and general manager Esi Eggleston Bracey. “We love the energy and confidence that she radiates, and the fact that inside and out she’s as cool as she looks. She’s an awesome addition to our CoverGirl family.”

Going hand-in-hand with that image, Pink will first promote what the brand is touting as a “bold new mascara innovation,” and celebrate “beauty with an edge” through all of her campaigns. Her first ads will debut this fall. Tell us: What do you think of Pink as a new face of CoverGirl?

Love her! She’s a great choice.

Bean on

That’s too bad. Another animal “lover” endorsing a company that tests on animals. Such a shame.

pb on

LOVE her!! :)

jsp81355 on

I love Pink. She definitely dances to her own drummer. You rock, girl!

Kristal on

Amazing Woman! She has always been an individual, love her and think she will do Cover Girl proud!

Pamela on

I love Pink! She is a great role model and a great choice.

Tracee on

Awesome choice. Beauty and brains! A force to be reckoned with.

fanofboardwalkempire on

I love Pink and she is a great choice for Cover Girl- getting some edge on is the right way to go!

Johna on

Wow. Pink is an “animal lover” I thought Cover Girl tested on animals?

Jeanine on

Great Choice! Have always admired Pink for her no apologies attitude!

gristd on

Absolutely awesome

Monique on

WOW,

Pink is an awesome choice. She’s terrific. Talk about bold and fabulous. Good for her ;-)))))))

kaemicha on

How fun and original. I can’t wait to see the commercials and I never say that~ I totally love Pink!

Ellie on

I thought Pink was suppose to be a big animal lover. Why would she endorse a company that animal test? What a FAKE!!!!!

kaemicha on

Love this! Good on Cover Girl!

Jess on

If thats true that Cover Girl tests on animals, what a shame. Maybe she didn’t realize. I’d imagine she is doing it to promote beauty through her eyes. What a shame about the animal testing, so sad for them.

Kasee on

I like her, but I too was shocked that she is doing this considering a simple Google search will tell you that Cover Girl does test on animals. Disappointed in her, I won’t lie. There are many worthy companies who do NOT test on animals which she could have supported with her endorsement.

Yolanda C. Lewis on

Pink rocks, and Cover Girl is very lucky to have her!

John Alexander-Davis on

Excellent choice!!

JML on

An animal isn’t human. I’m sick of you people who place animals on the same level. Pink is awesome! Of course you people will say anything to bring people down. I’m supposing your all vegans right?

carrie@safeandflamelesscandles.com on

Love her!! Awesome news!

Aria on

Love her!

Kallie on

I love Pink-I’m glad that they are picking women that aren’t your “typical” Cover Girl. She is gorgeous.

Vicki on

LOVE HER!!! She is beautiful and represents a whole new generation! Go Cover Girl!

Unknown on

YEA!!!!

Awesome choice!

SL on

Love me some P!NK!

Alexa on

Um, Covergirl has not tested on animals for years. You really need to read up-to-date information instead of past history.

Chelsee on

Wow, first Ellen DeGeneras and now her? I thought they ‘loved animals’ and were animal right activists. I mean that makes complete sense when you are a new Covergirl. They must not have gotten the memo that Covergirl tests on animals. What a shame.

Bean on

Hey, JML – Learn proper grammar before you go putting animals at a level beneath you. Try living on your own, with what God gave you, in the woods/jungle/outdoors and THEN come back to me and tell me animals don’t deserve our respect and are not to be used as test subjects.

Samantha on

She is a great choice and I love her, but if they test on animals I will never purchase their products again.

Kim on

I love Pink and am happy to see a more mainstream spokesperson for Cover Girl. However, I do not like the fact that Cover Girl tests on animals. And YES, they still DO. While I don’t really have a problem with people eating meat (although I don’t!), I DO have a problem with innocent animals having painful chemicals placed in their eyes etc. There’s simply no need to be cruel to a living thing.

Janie on

Good for Pink – love her music. I always thought she had the prettiest skin.

Kasee on

Actually, JML, I am a vegan, thanks for asking. However, even if you’re not, there’s a difference between humanely killing an animal for nourishment and torturing live animals for the sake of vanity. And, like Kim said, they absolutely DO still test on animals.

The other point here is that Pink herself has called out other celebrities for their treatment of animals. She put Selena Gomez on blast for painting a horse pink for a music video (with non-toxic paint) but then endorses Cover Girl. Hypocrisy at its finest.

tonya on

I agree with Bean, such a shame say you love animals but you endorse a company that tests on animals, always been a fan of P!ink but very concerned that she didnt look into this before signing this deal :(

Didi on

Thank you Bean for bringing this up. I was not aware that so many big companies still do testing on animals. Its truly a shame!

Mallory on

So for you animal lovers, would you rather CG tests their products on YOU? Uh yeah, probably not. Who cares about a worthless lab rat – serioulsy?! Peta folk take it too far sometimes.

Amy Allen on

I thought she should have been a Covergirl years ago!

Zaboo on

Animals look better with makeup.

H on

MY FAVORITEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE LOVE LOVE HER !!!!!!!

Cara on

Maybe Pink is on her own mission to eventually stop testing Covergirl products on animals, if she is such an animal lover!?
Im sure she realizes that people know shes all for animals & that Covergirl tests their products on animals, so maybe/eventually she will make some sort of statement about the whole situation! Dont judge so quickly people, this could be a good thing!

Lili on

AWESOME!! Love her.. she is a real beauty!

undicineen on

Love Pink as a new CoverGirl. I think CoverGirls’ diversity is fabulous, such a great range of beautiful women!

Montie on

Directly from pgbeautyscience.com, the company that owns CoverGirl:

We stopped animal testing of cosmetic products a decade ago – globally; years before this was mandated in the E.U.

Bonnie Aurand on

I love PINK so much
She resonates such strength and confidence with just a twist of sass.
Gotta love her

Stormie Woods on

I love Pink so I think this is a fantastic choice.

Kim on

Montie, pardon me if I don’t believe a blurb from pg beauty. I prefer to do research outside of a company that OWNS and therefore is trying to SELL a product. According to The Vegetarian Site (list last updated Feb. 26, 2012) Cover Girl IS still using rabbits to test products. Why a company needs to put chemicals into an innocent animals eyes is beyond me. MANY other companies DO NOT use animals..and regardless of how much I like Pink..I will not be buying Cover Girl products.

Kim on

BTW, Ellen has also taken heat for working for them due to the animal testing issues.

Jenn on

COVERGIRL was one of the largest global brands to conduct animal testing but that is no longer the case. Over a decade ago, Procter & Gamble’s Beauty & Grooming businesses discontinued testing on animals and committed itself to developing non-animal alternative methods to ultimately permit the elimination of animal testing

Scarlet on

Cover Girl, or any of their subset companies, test on animals and haven’t for almost 10 years. In fact, they were the first major, mainstream cosmetics company in the US to discontinue animal product testing. Their company also spearheads an animal-alternative research program that translates to not just cosmetics, but all brands of consumer products, and the have a sister line of cosmetics that is animal free, animal byproduct free, and all natural.

All of this information can be found quite easily on the Internet, as well as on their webpage, and the P&G site show that they discontinued animal testing, and were certified as such by the government and numerous consumer bureaus, almost a decade ago.

Heather on

I also learned doing research years ago that Cover Girl was one of the first to stop animail testing. And I am sure that Ellen and Pink did their research as well. They have many connections and are probably more aware of who does and doesn’t test on animals. Especially being the advocates that they are! People just want to believe what they want. And point the finger just to complain for the sake of complaining!

guest on

Love it; love her!

guest on

Go Pink!

Patty on

If you read the Vegetarian Site as Kim has suggested, they state Accuracy is NOT confirmed and it anyone has any updates to let them know. Which suggests to me they are not really current in their statements. I believe Covergirl stopped testing on animals 10 years ago. I thought everyone knew that. It was highly publicised at the time!

MsV on

Lmao so Zaboo you must look beautiful then! You can put lipstick on a pig but it’s still a pig….

Nicole on

What the heck!?!? Cover Girl tests on animals!!! Sham to see Pink and Ellen both lose their passion for money

Ginger on

Awesome!!! Pink ROCKS! Absolutely LOVE her! Happy for Alicia!!

Leslee on

I think Pink is a great choice, she seems so much more real than the people feigning shock that a company might test it’s cosmetic ingredients on animals.

If you were really that concerned about it, you would have known before this and let the company know your opinion.

guest on

Ick! Can’t stand her.

Leslee on

For those of you that are accusing anyone and everyone of being some traitor or sell out, you might want to check out PETAs blog for yourself, you are that inclined to be so idealistic.

PETA commented: Oct 15, 2010 2:17 PM

“Before signing with Cover Girl, Ellen was diligent in making sure that Cover Girl no longer tests on animals. She made it crystal clear that the company’s “no testing” policy was essential in order for her to agree to be its spokesperson. We love her for that! It is because of principled people like Ellen that we will see an end to animal testing for cosmetics. Cover Girl’s parent company, Procter & Gamble (P&G), announced in 1999 that it had revised its animal-testing policy. P&G stated that it will end the use of animal tests for all its current nonfood, nondrug products. This indicates that P&G realizes the importance of the animal-testing issue. However, P&G has not permanently halted all nonrequired animal experiments. According to P&G, it will not perform experiments on many existing products, but it has not agreed to stop testing new ingredients and products on animals.”

Im a little older but I LOVE•LOVE•LOVE her! She is the most awesome singer & down to Earth person I know. Haven’t been fortunate e’nuf to see her since she started out many years ago when I took my kids to see her
in Philly when they were younger
but I vow one day to see her again. :)
Her music is always what I’m feeling – its like she’s in my head … There are some great female singers out there but she is the BEST !! ~ P!nK RocKs!! ~ Just Say’n :)

melissa on

i love Pink ! smart and pretty !

margaret on

it’s about time !!!!!

Kara on

I find it weird both her and Ellen are covergirls, yet like others said, they are a big company that tests on animals. I’m sure they know though…..

mrt on

Cool! Can’t wait to see the adds. :)

marissa on

Love Pink. Great choice. She had said in a interview she was told “she wasn’t pretty enough”to be on a cover of a magazine…well look at her now! She is beautiful inside & out!

Christina Gallant on

First off, congrats Pink!

Second, does anybody have proof that P&G tests (or still tests) on animals, cause that is a HUGE accusation. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t support it, but having high profile, animal-loving celebrities to advertise your product, who believe quite strongly that animal testing is not only abuse but would majorly hurt their career doesn’t make much sense to me. They don’t need the money that bad, so if you have the proof, please point me to appropriate link, otherwise, be careful what you say about others. What goes around comes around.

kylie on

As I know Pink is a strong campaigner for PETA, my first thought was ‘doesn’t Covergirl test their products on animals?’ If that’s the case I’m really disappointed in her. A little hypocritical I would suggest.

Joyce on

I rather see her then a Kardashian !!! We sell their nail color at Target and it about makes me gag to walk past it. They don’t deserve the attention or the money it generates !!!

Lily on

Love her. I think she’s an excellent choice.

Lily on

Uh JML, PINK puts animals on the same level as humans. I’ve heard her say so in a radio interview. As for animals not being on the “same level”…says who? Speciesist idiot.

stellaa on

Really??She is not pretty..alot more choices out there..

antskip2 on

Love love love me some Pink.

Esme on

Hypocrite…or has Covergirl stopped testing on animals?

Erin on

I LOVE Pink!! I am just so excited to see a large company like CG promoting such awesome, confident, and REAL women! She is truly one of my role models (and I’m in my late 30′s). (I will admit that I, too, am a bit concerned, if CG still tests on animals?! I will need to check that out because I’m pretty sure Ellen and PInk would not endorse such a company.) But overall, I commend these companies like Dove Soap and CG for stepping up and helping to show Americans that REAL women in Hollywood come in all shapes, sizes, ethnicities, attitudes, styles, and backgrounds. Go get ‘em, Pink!! :)

adkins on

It’s about time!! Pink is my idol! Love, Love, Love her. She makes it okay to be “not the norm” and still feel okay about yourself. I swear it seems like she writes every song just for me, about me.

Rebecca on

I love Pink but Covergirl still does test on animals which is why i will never buy there products. As for the comment “would you rather they test on humans” I say yes there called inmates!!! especially if they have a death sentence. And yes Im a vegan and a member of Peta-so is Pink. She not only slammed Selena Gomez but also the royal family. Really hope she didn’t realize and didn’t decide to sell out.

Kim on

Well I can end the debate. I contacted Cover Girl last night via there Facebook page and ask them point blank “Do you test on animals?”. Here, in part, is the reply I got. “thanks for bringing up this very important topic and I’m happy that I can tell you more about this. Our research policy is very clear that we do not test on animals unless required to by law.” Please note the last few words..”UNLESS REQUIRED TO BY LAW.” This is BS. Law does not require many other make-up companies to test on animals, so why CG??? This is an EXCUSE and the answer is YES.

DMS on

COVERGIRL was one of the largest global brands to conduct animal testing but that is no longer the case. Over a decade ago, Procter & Gamble’s Beauty & Grooming businesses discontinued testing on animals and committed itself to developing non-animal alternative methods to ultimately permit the elimination of animal testing. So good for Pink
Love her!

Kelly C. on

So very disappointed in her for endorsing a company that does horrible testing on animals especially since she has been a voice for animal cruelty for years, same with Ellen Degeneres…shame on both of them for letting money come in the way of the rights of animals.

Sarah on

Wait….i thought Ellen was.i guess they changed it it to pink.cool!

Fashionwidget on

This should be interesting.

This is an ad campaign I would like to see.

GSquared on

I think she’s the perfect type of Covergirl! I didn’t like Taylor Swift because I think being America’s sweetheart wasn’t a good representation of girls or women in the world, nobody’s that good of a goody-two-shoes; and Drew Barrymore is beautiful, but kind of hazy. Pink’s personality and look on life is something relatable to me and a lot of other people. Plus, I think it’s great to add a little tough attitude to the line!

Kunitaka on

Hi!Whenever I try applying eeelinyr on my button lash, it never turns out right and looks really horrible i have blue eyes so maby thats why it looks so bad? or maby im applying it wrong? I also have the same liquid eeelinyr and cant seem to get it close to my top lash line ethier..would you be able to do a eeelinyr turtorial?

lily on

i used to love her but she turned out to be another ellen ,natllie portman and carrie underwood they claim they love animals but endorse companies that tests on helpless creatures.shame on them
